I absolutely love the name [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]! It’s unusual, handsome, and appealing. I do think pronunciation could be a problem, but I’ve heard more people say it correctly than not. If people couldn’t pronounce it they could just call him [name_m]Pip[/name_m] - a name I also happen to love <3 I say go for it; it’s beautiful with your daughter’s name, too.
I don’t think the pronunciation would be an issue. [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of people know about the peregrine falcon, which is pronounced the same way.
I used to [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] this name (for a girl) but now I don’t like it so much… I can see the appeal it held for me, but I don’t feel it. It is a really nice name, though. Go for it!
I actually really like [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]. I think its handsome and unusual without being over the top and the nickname [name_m]Pip[/name_m]/[name_m]Pippin[/name_m] is seriously adorable!
I think it’s really wild yet grown up- I read a book with a character names [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] with the nn [name_m]Penn[/name_m], which I think is very handsome and could work better even in adulthood rather than [name_m]Pip[/name_m]
Thank you! I do like the name [name_m]Penn[/name_m]! I’d never thought about it using it as a nickname for [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]. Now I think about it, it seems rather obvious.
I am really liking it right now. It’s now on our list of possible names for our third!
Ok so one concern which I honestly completely forgot to address. It’s rather close to our daughters name, who is [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] (mag-duh-len). We usually call her by nicknames, so the similarity honestly didn’t occur to me at first. It doesn’t bother my husband but it’s something that does bug me a little.
Doh. Now I’ve remembered that, I feel like it’s a deal breaker. Maybe a middle name.
I don’t think it’s that similar to [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] at all, with the different last syllables separating them enough in my opinion- they have pretty different sounds she I say them
Would you be using nicknames a lot for both of them? If so it’s even less of an issue
I love it. [name_m]Penn[/name_m] is a neat nn idea I hadn’t ever considered, though I like [name_m]Pip[/name_m] quite a lot. For the record, I think [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] and [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] sound fine together. They sound like storybook siblings to me.
