Talk to me about these girl names

Aaaand now for the girl names! Recent name loves / discoveries this week:

[name_f]Myla[/name_f]-- [name_f]My[/name_f] aunt’s sister (who isn’t my aunt) just had twin girls, and one of their names is [name_f]Myla[/name_f]. I really like it! I’ve heard it before, but after seeing it on a child, it’s much sweeter.
[name_u]Remy[/name_u]/[name_u]Rory[/name_u]/[name_f]Rorie[/name_f]-- Which one do you like best? (I like nickname names, so please don’t suggest full names for these! If [name_f]Emme[/name_f] can stand on her own, so can [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u].) I heard of a [name_f]Rorie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] this week and thought it was super cute.
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f]-- [name_m]How[/name_m] does this name feel to you? It’s very sweet, and vintage to me, but I want to know if it sounds boring to you.
[name_f]Maven[/name_f]-- [name_f]My[/name_f] mom says this sounds too much like an old woman. Your thoughts?
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]-- Too trendy? I like this name, but I feel like I’m hearing it a lot. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys hear it often?
Carrigan/Carigan/Karigan-- I’ve talked about this on here before, but I’m conflicted on the spelling.

[name_f]Myla[/name_f] is very cute. I think [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is pretty so it’s a nice alternative.
[name_u]Remi[/name_u] and [name_f]Rorie[/name_f] are so cute! I love them! Although they can be boy names, I’m partial to them as girl names.
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] is a little boring to me just because I do know a [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] so it isn’t anything out of the ordinary, and it doesn’t stand out to me much.
[name_f]Maven[/name_f] isn’t bad. Similar to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] which seems to be popular.
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] is a bit trendy but still a pretty name.
Carrigan reminds me of Culligan, the water company.

[name_f]Myla[/name_f] – so lovely. [name_f]Kinda[/name_f] incorporates [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and [name_f]Maya[/name_f] for me, which are two names I adore, but gives an overall freshness.

[name_u]Rory[/name_u] / [name_u]Remy[/name_u] – I prefer [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and I think it’s a cute unisex name option. I have only actually met boys with this name, however I actually feel it works better as a tomboyish girl’s name.

[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] – I don’t particularly like this name.

[name_f]Maven[/name_f] – I automatically think of it as a word, which means an expert or professional in a certain field, but I can see it working as a name off the tails of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] (though I prefer these).

[name_u]Emery[/name_u] – Maybe a little trendy but it’s a cute name. [name_f]My[/name_f] issue with this name is that I’m always like “why does emery sound so familiar even though I don’t know any kids with this name….ah! those one nail files are called emery boards”. It’s not an overpowering association at all and I don’t think many would even make it, but when it is made it’s just an odd one. Also like the more traditional [name_u]Amory[/name_u].

Carrigan – I don’t like this. I feel like there are other names out there that are similar that would have more appeal. I prefer it spelled this way though. Has a trendy feel to it. I like the name [name_f]Carys[/name_f] quite a bit and it shares the same beginning.

Thanks for the input so far! I’ve never heard of the Culligan though, @ashleyf.
and @aym I get what you mean about [name_u]Emery[/name_u]! One of the little boys in my preschool class talks about his big cousin [name_u]Emery[/name_u] a lot, but I’ve never met one either. I wish so bad I could use [name_f]Carys[/name_f]! I have a terrible association with this name. Such a shame.

[name_f]Myla[/name_f] - I like it just as much as [name_f]Mila[/name_f].
[name_u]Remy[/name_u]/[name_u]Rory[/name_u]/[name_f]Rorie[/name_f] - Not a fan of [name_u]Rory[/name_u], sorry! Sounds very harsh to me. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is lovely.
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] - It feels a bit dated, but not boring. It’s okay.
[name_f]Maven[/name_f] - [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]. Reminds me of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], which I love.
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] - Never been a fan of the sound of [name_u]Emery[/name_u], sorry!
Carrigan/Carigan/Karigan - I much prefer the Carrigan spelling to others. I quite like it, although it reminds me of the evil woman from [name_m]Casper[/name_m].

[name_f]Myla[/name_f] - I can see the appeal, but it’s not really my style. I prefer [name_f]Mila[/name_f].
[name_u]Remy[/name_u]/[name_u]Rory[/name_u]/[name_f]Rorie[/name_f] - [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] are definite boys’ names, to me. [name_f]Rorie[/name_f] looks most feminine, but sounds the same as [name_u]Rory[/name_u], I’d assume. I quite like [name_u]Romy[/name_u], however, which you might like.
[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] - [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]'s cute; the [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] spelling looks a little fresher. With [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] very popular, I don’t think it looks too dated.
[name_f]Maven[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. It doesn’t sound like an old woman, to me, no.
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] - [name_u]Emery[/name_u], along with [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u], has gotten extremely popular, not my style.
Carrigan/Carigan/Karigan - Not a fan, though I’d go with the Carrigan spelling. Have you considered [name_u]Madigan[/name_u]? I actually quite like it.

@polina I guess it’s a good thing I’ve never seen [name_m]Casper[/name_m]! I really like Carrigan, and would hate for it to be ruined.
@bibliophile [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is cute, but I just think of [name_m]Mitt[/name_m] [name_u]Romney[/name_u]. and [name_u]Madigan[/name_u] is cute too, but my best friend’s name is [name_u]Madison[/name_u] “Madi” so I couldn’t use it. Thanks for giving me alternatives though!
