These are mostly just guilty pleasures, or just names I love for no good reason. I want to hear your thoughts, especially since most of them are not my usual style, either too edgy, or too classic for what I’m used to.
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]-- This is just so handsome to me. I think [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u].
[name_m]Russell[/name_m]-- [name_f]My[/name_f] mom despises this. But I think it is devastatingly handsome and classic.
Creedence-- There is something so edgy about this.
[name_u]Dane[/name_u]-- [name_f]My[/name_f] class has been reading [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m], and he is the [name_u]Dane[/name_u] of Denmark. I just like the simplicity of it.
[name_m]Justus[/name_m]-- According to my guy friend, whose brother’s name is [name_m]Justus[/name_m] [name_u]Leighton[/name_u], [name_m]Justus[/name_m] is biblical, and I didn’t know that.
[name_m]Abram[/name_m]-- Is this too frumpy? What do you think of this? [name_f]My[/name_f] grandfather’s name was [name_u]Billy[/name_u] [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] so I think [name_m]Abram[/name_m] would be a cool spin on his name, but I can’t decide if I like it or not. OR do you just like [name_m]Bram[/name_m]?
[name_m]Jagger[/name_m]-- I’m not HUGE Rolling Stones fan, but I do like their music, and I loveeee this name lately.
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] - I also think of [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] and I find him an amazing namesake (despite his unfortunate fate). I wouldn’t say I love it, but it’s a great name.
[name_m]Russell[/name_m] - I don’t care for [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. It feels kinda cool, though.
Creedence - A big dislike, sorry!
[name_u]Dane[/name_u] - I think it’s okay. I’d use it as a nickname or middle name.
[name_m]Justus[/name_m] - [name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it? I think I like this one.
[name_m]Abram[/name_m] - I prefer [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]. Feels very religious, but probably it’s just me. [name_m]Bram[/name_m] is cool.
[name_m]Jagger[/name_m] - I love love love [name_m]Jagger[/name_m]! I have a meowing [name_m]Jagger[/name_m] at home! It’s on my guilty pleasure list. I wouldn’t dare to use it as a first name, but I think it’d make a great middle.
@polina I never liked Creedence either, but I met one recently and he is a BEAUTIFUL child so now I can’t even help but like the name He goes by [name_m]Creed[/name_m], swwoooonnn! [name_m]Justus[/name_m] is pronounced like [name_u]Justice[/name_u]. I like the spelling [name_m]Justus[/name_m] much better, though.
[name_u]Blaine[/name_u], [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_m]Marshall[/name_m], [name_m]Mitchell[/name_m], [name_m]Maverick[/name_m], [name_m]Merrick[/name_m], and [name_m]Luther[/name_m]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] reminds me of [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] sausage and those oddball commercials
[name_u]Dane[/name_u] reminds me of [name_u]Dane[/name_u] Cook, a fairly talented comedian…if not him, then a Great [name_u]Dane[/name_u] ( dog )
[name_m]Justus[/name_m] could grow on me, for now the closest name I like to that is [name_u]Jude[/name_u] or [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] or [name_m]Josiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Russell[/name_m] reminds me of all of my dad’s [name_m]Russell[/name_m] Athletic tshirts I just washed in the laundry
Creedence reminds me of a band, I think it’s called Creedence Clearwater Revival, and of course I just had to age myself
[name_m]Abram[/name_m] is better than [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]. [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] contains [name_m]Ham[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Ham[/name_m] to eat, not in my names
Abrams is ok, not my style really. Reminds me of the name [name_m]Atticus[/name_m].
[name_m]Jagger[/name_m] reminds me of Maroon 5 and their song Moves like [name_m]Jagger[/name_m], which is now in my head. Hehe
I adore [name_m]Atlas[/name_m]! If I could use [name_m]Callen[/name_m] [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], I would in a heartbeat, but my boyfriend would despise it. I can hear him now… “Like the map??”
I also like [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] and [name_m]Merrick[/name_m], and [name_u]Blaine[/name_u], but I knew a girl [name_u]Blaine[/name_u] before I knew a boy [name_u]Blaine[/name_u] so the name is feminine to me.
I totally get what you’re saying about [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]! I think the ham part is what bothers me about it! I never realized it until now, hahaha.
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]- I like the name [name_u]Dean[/name_u] too and it’s simplicity, you can’t go wrong with [name_u]Dean[/name_u] although thanks to Community I just keep seeing [name_u]Dean[/name_u] Pelton
[name_m]Russell[/name_m]- I think of [name_m]Russell[/name_m] [name_u]Howard[/name_u]'s Good News, I like the nickname [name_m]Russ[/name_m] and can picture it on a cheeky little boy
Creedence-Creedence looks a little more girly to me, I’ve never heard it before, it intrigues me
[name_u]Dane[/name_u]- I can’t get part the great dane association- I prefer [name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Justus[/name_m]- I like [name_m]Justus[/name_m] more than [name_m]Justin[/name_m], but it isn’t my favourite of the list- I would make a great middle
[name_m]Abram[/name_m]- I love [name_m]Bram[/name_m] and [name_m]Abram[/name_m], sometimes one more than the other, [name_m]Abram[/name_m] keeps the possiblity of having the nickame [name_m]Bram[/name_m] or the longer [name_m]Abram[/name_m] or even the nickname [name_m]Abe[/name_m] open
[name_m]Jagger[/name_m]- A bit to surnamey for me but defiantly ususable you have some nice choices
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] - I like this a lot.
[name_m]Russell[/name_m] - I find this really gross.
Creedence - cool band, not sure about the name.
[name_u]Dane[/name_u] - [name_u]Dane[/name_u] Cook is revolting. Great Danes are cool but, yeah. I don’t really like place names as people names.
[name_m]Justus[/name_m] - No.
[name_m]Abram[/name_m] - I like [name_m]Bram[/name_m] and [name_m]Avram[/name_m] more but [name_m]Abram[/name_m] is okay.
[name_m]Jagger[/name_m] - Better than [name_m]Lennon[/name_m], but I still don’t like surname-names that way.
Thank you @mauvebird and @stripedsocks! I don’t think I could actually use these names for first names, but I wanted to throw them out there anyway. I could use [name_m]Abram[/name_m]/[name_m]Bram[/name_m], and I would TOTALLY use [name_m]Jagger[/name_m] if I could, but my boyfriend would laugh in my face if I suggested it. I could use most of them as middles, but I prefer surprising middles, so I guess [name_m]Russell[/name_m] would be out.
[name_u]Dean[/name_u] - I love it. To me, [name_u]Dean[/name_u] is olive green, autumn leaves, amber, bonfires under a starry sky, an endless stretch of road, the desert, the feeling of going fast on a motorcycle, and warm metal. I just love the carefree, handsome, adventurous guy I imagine would bear this name. I see [name_u]Dean[/name_u] as the kind of guy to have a bit of a rough exterior and a heart of gold. I also think of [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u].
[name_m]Russell[/name_m] - It feels like a dad name to me.
Creedence - Clearwater Revival? Personally, I prefer [name_m]Creed[/name_m].
[name_u]Dane[/name_u] - This just sounds like [name_u]Dean[/name_u] with a super twangy accent to me.
[name_m]Justus[/name_m] - I prefer the [name_u]Justice[/name_u] spelling, but it’s a very nice name. I’m a fan of virtue names for boys.
[name_m]Abram[/name_m] - I like it, but I prefer [name_m]Bram[/name_m] or the Hebrew [name_m]Avram[/name_m].
[name_m]Jagger[/name_m] - Better as a name for a dog or a cat. I just imagine some hoodlum running around slashing tires and breaking windows.
Dean– This is one of my favorites and my grandfather’s name. I think it is classic, straightforward and handsome. Russell– I know someone named [name_m]Russell[/name_m]. It works really well for him. Everyone calls him “[name_m]Russ[/name_m]” Dane– I like this a lot. It is very similar to [name_u]Dean[/name_u] Justus– I’m not too sure about this one. I just hear [name_u]Justice[/name_u]. Abram– I actually prefer Abraham with [name_m]Abram[/name_m]/[name_m]Bram[/name_m] as nicknames. I also love that it’s a family name. Jagger– I would love to see this in the middle spot (not so much the first)
