I came across the name [name_m]Tavish[/name_m] today and immediately became smitten with it. I texted my husband for his opinion and his response was that it wasn’t bad, but it is a little “out there” for him. This is coming from the man who adores [name_f]Clover[/name_f] for a girl and recently suggested [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] for a boy…lol. Anyhow, I guess I can see what he is saying. Most people around us are using -aiden names or names like [name_m]Brantley[/name_m] or [name_m]Brody[/name_m]. The most “exotic” name I’ve heard around this town is [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m].
I guess it is a bit out there, in that sense. Is [name_m]Tavish[/name_m] bad, though? I mean, do you think it is wearable? What would you pair with it?
I don’t think [name_m]Tavish[/name_m] is a bad name as long as you’re willing to be bold with your name choice, but maybe you could dull it down or make it seem less strange with a more common middle name, perhaps a family name (along the the lines of [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_m]Albert[/name_m])
I love [name_m]Tavish[/name_m]. I tried to talk my hubby into it, but was unsuccessful. Though I think you’ll run into many people who have not heard of it, I don’t think it’s strange. [name_m]Just[/name_m] uncommon. I would think people would adjust to hearing it rather quickly and I definitely consider it wearable. Good luck.
I don’t like [name_m]Tavish[/name_m], it reminds me of ravish and tarnish. That’s just my opinion though, so if everybody else (most importantly you and your husband) like it, ignore me LOL. I think compared to [name_m]Brody[/name_m] or [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] it’s a bit out there but not in a bad way. I don’t think it’s too crazy or anything, and it’s good to stand out sometimes. I do think it’s wearable but a bit bold.
I do like it as a middle name though - [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Tavish[/name_m], or [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] [name_m]Tavish[/name_m], maybe even [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] [name_m]Tavish[/name_m].
I like it and think it is very usable. For me, it has a Scottish vibe because of the surname [name_m]McTavish[/name_m] so doesn’t feel strange at all, just a nice, more uncommonly used name.
Thanks for the feedback I’m glad to see many positive comments about it! I think we’d definitely pair it with a more traditional middle name, or else just use it as a middle name. My husband is still unsure of it, so it will move down the list, but it still helps to get some perspective on it!
I love [name_m]Tavish[/name_m]! It reminds me of The [name_m]Lion[/name_m] the Witch and The Wardrobe series by CS [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. I feel like it was definitely a name in one of those books, or a city maybe in [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]?
I love [name_m]Tavish[/name_m]! He’s a lot more jaunty and cool than most of the offbeat European names I tend toward, but I mean that in a good way. I think it would make a lovely honor name for any Thomases or Tamsins in the family, or a nod to Scottish heritage, if you have it. Without any kind of personal connection to it, I still think it’s a lovely choice, and far more interesting than most of the names heard on the playground! Tavi is an excellent nickname, too.
I personally don’t like it, but maybe because I’m just not used to it. I would ask “did you say [name_m]Travis[/name_m]” and alot of others would probably say the same. I’m not sure if I could ever get over someone being named [name_m]Tavish[/name_m] but I could see it on a dog maybe…? I don’t know.
Wait… ITS BETTER THAN [name_m]SYLVESTER[/name_m] THE [name_f]CAT[/name_f] LMAO.
I love [name_f]Clover[/name_f] for a boy or girl personally.
