I used to think of [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_f]Tayla[/name_f] and Taylah as nineties and dated until I started thinking about it on a boy. That thought was inspired by [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] [name_m]Henderson[/name_m] who was runner up on X-[name_m]Factor[/name_m] Australia he’s 20 so received the name when it was more popular for girls. I was talking to my sister a little while ago and she said she thought of [name_f]Tayla[/name_f] and Taylah as the girl spellings (and they are the two more popular spellings in Australia) and [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] as the boy spelling.
I know I’m mostly just rambling but is [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] usable for a boy? I pronounce it [name_u]Tay[/name_u]-LAH
I have 16 year old step-son named [name_u]Taylor[/name_u]. I never thought of [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] on a boy until I met him, but I love it and don’t really think of it as a girl’s name after knowing him.
However, we pronounce it [name_u]TAY[/name_u]-ler. I think pronouncing it with the -LAH at the end does make it sound more feminine.
@gwennielou I’m Australian so saying [name_u]Tay[/name_u]-ler sounds forced and silly to me because in my accent I say er’s as [name_m]Ah[/name_m]'s
[name_u]Taylor[/name_u] was a very popular name amongst the guys at my high school, so it’s always strange to me when I hear [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] called a girl’s name. It’s masculine to me.
I had a feeling that was the case ![ ](/images/emoji/apple/slight_smile.png?v=9)
Bottom line…it’s not a name I ever considered using, but it sure is great on him and rarely used in the US for a boy.
In [name_u]America[/name_u] it’s unfortunately become taken over by girls. We don’t have [name_f]Tayla[/name_f] at all. And ours is pronounced Taylerrrrr like [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] Swift.
I am in the US and I have known or know one female [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] and a handful of male Taylors.
My ex-fiance was named [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] and I always loved it as a boy’s name. I called him “Tater” as a NN
I live in the US and most of the Taylors I have met were boys. There were plenty in my classes throughout elementary, middle and high school. I’m in my 20’s now and dislike the name for either gender. It is very 90’s to me.
I love [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], and it’s a top 100 name for boys in the UK right now. I know of 3 male [name_u]Taylor[/name_u]'s, 1 is roughly 24, the other is 20 and the other is about 2 months old ![ ](/images/emoji/apple/slight_smile.png?v=9)
Thanks guys. I think I will add it to my list
