Teachers, what are the names of your favorite boy students and what do you think of my boy name list?

I love [name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], but he doesn’t look like either. So I’m starting from scratch. I believe names have power to shape personality, and I don’t want to give my child a troubled name.

Here’s the list:
[name_m]Beau[/name_m]
[name_m]Owen[/name_m]
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
[name_m]Whit[/name_m]

Backburner:
[name_m]Liam[/name_m]
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]

(Not a teacher but I do currently work at a school, and I also used to work as an assistant swimming teacher)

Of your list, I really like:

[name_m]Beau[/name_m] → charming and friendly

[name_m]Brooks[/name_m] → cool and solid but fun too

[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] → gentle and earthy and cool

Also like [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] a lot too

Faves are [name_m]Owen[/name_m] and [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]. Beau’s nice too.

Not a huge fan of [name_m]Liam[/name_m] tbh. It’s not so much that it’s a ‘troubled’ name, just that it’s been quite popular in recent years, at least in my country, so there have inevitably been some tricky kids with that name too.

From your list I like Shepherd, Owen and Bennett the best. I haven’t taught children with these names, so seeing them on the register would stand out.

some favourites

Theodore - although a very popular name, I teach one every year and they’re always the sweetest boys. Lots of character, a bit cheeky, but very loving.

in my experience, boys with names that end in N are not guaranteed to be troublesome but nearly all of my troublesome boys have had names which end in N

(interestingly, an example of a non-troublesome N boy I’ve had was an Owen!)

some students I’ve felt a strong connection with through the years…

From your list, I absolutely adore [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] and [name_m]Whit[/name_m]!

The kiddos I would have adopted in a heartbeat were [name_m]Adam[/name_m], [name_m]Michael[/name_m] and N3on1l (I’ve never heard of his name before, he went by “Nil/Neil”)

Aside from that one [name_m]Adam[/name_m], in my experience [name_m]Adams[/name_m] are wild, and that includes from my own family. Though truthfully, the Michaels were also very prone to hitting.

I’ve never had kiddos with names from your list, unless you count a girl named [name_m]Liam[/name_m]? So I’m going off of simply what I like
