So we’re pretty set on our name, I just wanted to know what y’all thought of how much teasing would go on. Our last name is Myhill. We want to name our boy [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] Myhill. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_m]Archer[/name_m] Myhill is okay together?
Why would he be teased? Maybe I can’t see it because I’m not a native English speaker/not American, but I think [name_m]Archer[/name_m] Myhill is beyond handsome!
Ahh… Yeah… That’s really unfortunate. I think of ancient battlefields right away. I’m not sure if he’d be teased because of it but there’s no escaping the connection between ‘hill’ and ‘archer’.
I doubt there’d be any teasing. I didn’t really make the [name_m]Archer[/name_m]/ [name_m]Hill[/name_m] connection until it was pointed out, and I’m assuming Myhill, isn’t pronounced in the same way as [name_m]Hill[/name_m] anyway. Plus I don’t think many kids or teenagers would find it tease worthy. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] is a great name btw, and [name_m]Archie[/name_m] is an adorable nn.
I have to admit, I did immediately think of an archer arguing/claiming his hill and it did make me chuckle. That being said, I don’t think it’s a big deal. It’s not offensive or embarrassing. Plus, I honestly don’t think kids would make that connection when it’s prime teasing years so I think he’ll be fine. As adults, we see it so perhaps when he gets older, it’ll become more apparent but at most, it would be a momentary chuckle at the connection to archer and hill and that’s it.
Firstly, I love the name [name_m]Archer[/name_m]! I didn’t make the [name_m]Archer[/name_m] / [name_m]Hill[/name_m] connection immediately either. But I think it sounds good together still and shouldn’t keep you from using the name.
I see no reason he would be teased? I don’t think children are as opposed to name diversity as you think. And [name_m]Archie[/name_m] is a pretty cool nickname.
I also just don’t want adults to see the name and kind of roll their eyes or think, why would they do that when it kind of makes a sentence, [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]Hill[/name_m]… But I’m also just hoping that like someone said it’s not severe enough to be a deterrence and that in the end it serves him well. I’m hoping it just is seen as having kind of a touch of celeb status (like an actor changing his own name to stand out).
Myhill is pronounced literally my-hill, but when you say those two words together as a last name, 99% of people have no idea that it is my-hill and literally spelt myhill, they assume it is some kind of foreign last name and they 99% of the time need help spelling it. So at least I think he’d be safe from it sounding out loud during a role call like a sentence, I don’t think people would get it. I think Myhill ends up sounding more like [name_m]Archer[/name_m] Mihal or Miyil. The last name is my hubby’s and it gives a lot of headaches to be honest lol it’s so easy it’s difficult! It comes from [name_u]Michael[/name_u].
I love the nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m] too and whenever we discuss names my two year old always says but no he’s [name_m]Archie[/name_m]!!! lol.
Any more thoughts and honest replies are welcome… better to hear it now than post partum lol. Thank you!
Personally, if I had a common word in my surname, I would avoid another word name in the first spot. But that’s just me. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] Myhill isn’t the worst I’ve heard and I don’t think teasing would be too much of an issue. He would probably go by [name_m]Archie[/name_m] Myhill for the most part so I wouldn’t worry too much.
I seriously doubt any children would tease him because of that name. I don’t even see any teasing potential to it at all. It’s awesome, and you should definitely use it.
I love the name [name_m]Archer[/name_m] and I agree it sounds strong and handsome with your last name… the teasing would be a stretch other boys should be envious.
I immediately saw “[name_m]ARCHer[/name_m] [name_f]My[/name_f] [name_m]Hill[/name_m]”… but I tend to be a teenage boy in that aspect and definitely think he will be teased (especially when he’s a teenager).
