[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think its possible to use the nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] if I name my boy [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] ___? Thoughts on this combo and using the nn [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]? Thanks, berries ![]()
Sure, you can use anything you want as a nickname.
I know several people who go by their middle names.
It can be a bit of a hassle sometimes with misunderstandings or legal issues where you have to explain, but it’s definitely done and doable.
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m] is a very handsome name. I prefer [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] but [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] does work as a nn for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. I think of [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a bit dated as I only know older adults with the name but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
I think it’s a cute combination and I like the nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. I don’t think you have to justify any nickname… some nicknames aren’t derived from names at all. That said, why not use [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] in the first name position? [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is nice as well and then you don’t have to worry about your choice of nickname.
It makes no sense to me
The kid will have [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] in his name, so of course you can call him [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]!
However, I think the boy’s classmates will call him [name_m]Raff[/name_m] instead.
