So I am just yet another teen who is obsessed with names, and I was just wondering how people react to other teen’s obsessions with names. I know some people think I’m super weird for it, my mom also thinks its so weird, it’s nice though sometimes because a lot of teen girls in general have thought about naming their kids, so I can get conversation out of many people.
But like, do you ever tell people about your love for names, or do you just not bring it up over fear of them thinking it’s weird?
I know it may seem like a silly topic, but I am honestly curious.
Most people I know find it a bit weird, and my parents get a little concerned about me talking about babies, especially because I have a.boyfriend. He finds it funny. Most my friends just roll their eyes and allow me to have a rant about names I like and don’t like. Sometimes I ask my frineds what they would name a child if they had one today, that’s not too out there, and it’s actually quite funny what people say (:
I told my friends and showed them my name book, and they didn’t think it was too weird. One of them was a bit like ‘You’re 16 what are you doing?’, but one of them was actually Latin name obsessed at one point, and had a list too, so it was okay. My mum might have figured something out (she’s seen Nameberry open on my iPad, I comment on names on TV etc.), but she hasn’t said anything. I don’t really talk to anyone about names much though. I guess I’m just worried people, especially anyone I haven’t known for a long time, will think I’m really odd. I probably overthink the whole thing, since everyone I’ve told so far hasn’t really been too bothered.
Well, I’m actually 22 now but I think I can still answer. 
I don’t specifically tell people that I’m obsessed with names, but I bring it up quite often (movie credits, birth announcements in papers etc.). My mum and siblings enjoy name conversation and all share their thoughts and favourites with me, my friends and cousins usually contribute to shorter conversations when names come up.
People seem to think it’s completely acceptable for anyone to have favourite or interesting names they like (sometimes in public though, you just keep your gp’s to yourself!).
For a long time I thought my husband would think my obsession was weird, but I describe it as a hobby. since we often discuss names we would like to name our children, my husband says he likes that I can suggest names that I find and make combos etc.
