This, this is my style :joy::sweat_smile::heart_eyes: I just love Telegraph names. The bizarre but charming mix of classic, mythological, and totally unexpected. I’m not even a Telegraph reader but you bet I will put in my own announcement when the time comes

[name_f]My[/name_f] faves from this list ~
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u] Leopoldina
[name_u]Cleo[/name_u] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_u]Loveday[/name_u]
[name_f]Hebe[/name_f] [name_f]Heather[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (I have such a soft spot for [name_f]Hebe[/name_f] since there was one in my brother’s year group)
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Fiorenza[/name_f] ‘Posey’
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] [name_f]Indira[/name_f]
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] Rassie Ridgway to be known as Beetle because OF COURSE
[name_m]Aubert[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] ‘Aubie’ :face_holding_back_tears:
[name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] :raised_hands:t2:
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] [name_m]Orlando[/name_m] - I know a [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Orlando[/name_m]! He has a name twin! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] [name_m]Marius[/name_m]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_u]Florence[/name_u] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] [name_u]Coco[/name_u]

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite sibsets are ~
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] and [name_m]Percival[/name_m]
[name_u]Florence[/name_u], [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] and [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_u]Arthur[/name_u] and [name_m]Cedric[/name_m]

This is actually making me really thankful that [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] is an unusable GP for me because it’s clearly shooting up in popularity! :flushed:

Me too! I love the multiple middles that often don’t quite flow or even go but that just makes them even more charming somehow.

Ooh! I found a load of Hebes in my family tree this year and I’ve been thinking about it in a fresh light since. So sweet and bright :potted_plant:

I always look forward to this!

I love seeing [name_f]Pia[/name_f], [name_f]Cosima[/name_f], and [name_f]Fenella[/name_f]. All such understated gems! [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] on a boy also pleasantly surprised me — I love the full name of [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_u]Sandy[/name_u]. [name_u]Happy[/name_u] to see [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] spelt with the double A, too. By far my preferred spelling!

Others I’m delighted to see: [name_m]Ivo[/name_m], [name_m]Marius[/name_m], [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] (Especially with the middle names), [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamond[/name_f], [name_u]Loveday[/name_u], and [name_f]Tigerlily[/name_f].

I like Tallulah, Aurelia, Iona and Clementine and Kit, Wilbur, Valentine, Otto, Peregrine, Orlando, Clarence, Fergus, Herbert and Hamish. Didn’t realise I liked so many posh boy’s names!

Also love Morven, Cornelia, Ebba, Beatriz, Ishbel, Viola, Sidonie, Algernon, Ambrose, Balthazar, Arundel, Leander, Kester, Ignatius, Merlin, Wynn and Thaddeus - surprised by the fact some of these don’t rank - I have encountered several of these (and on multiple occasions) Do I just live in a posh area? :I think it’s more I used to work with a number of private school kids

Those sibsets! Allegra, Honor, Louis and Geordie!!! Aurelia and Ottilie! Barnaby and Wilfred! Cassie and Lois!! Coco and Tallulah (read a book in which a character has a baby called Coco Tallulah ), Florence, Jemima and Wilbur, Nina and Cleo! Percy and Merlin!

sounds like a NB challenge
Thinking Mabli Estelle Charlotte Adair Everett Bronte Saskia Merryn - super catchy

Lol, I spent ages yesterday looking for a good long list of posh British names for a character and then today’s blog is exactly what I needed (after I already picked one of course :joy:)

I think my favorites from each section in this post are:
Ruby Cornelia
Tristan Arthur Marius
Beatrix Cecilia Alice and Florence Henrietta Coco
Theodora, Edmund, and Antonia

Edit: read the blog post and I like a lot of names on there but I think if I had to name a kid off those lists today’s picks would be Antonia Daphne Marina nn Annie and Leander Ignatius Valentine nn Leo (although I also like how the initials would spell Liv. Not sure how I feel about that as a boy nn, I kind of like it?)

Some of the standouts for me:

Bonibel Monamy [name_f]Una[/name_f] [name_f]Lakshmi[/name_f] – what a combo! Curious if Monamy is a family surname (or maybe like ‘mon ami’?)
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Antigone[/name_f] – the repeated endings shouldn’t work, but somehow they do!
[name_f]Ishbel[/name_f] [name_f]Hester[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Sinclair[/name_u] [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] [name_u]Britton[/name_u] McLay [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] – this is exactly the kind of thing I expect in the Telegraph announcements; particularly amused by [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] together as it seems more efficient to just use one!
Rosemary-Artemis [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] – now that is a double name!

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] Rassie Ridgeway “Beetle” – again, this combo and nickname is what I look at these announcements for!
[name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] [name_m]Byron[/name_m] – very literary
Guddu [name_m]Pietro[/name_m] [name_m]Stefano[/name_m] [name_m]Aditya[/name_m] – a fascinating combination of cultures!
[name_m]Orson[/name_m] [name_m]Redman[/name_m] “Teddy” – I know exactly how they got this nickname, and I appreciate it.

Some notable individuals:

Leopoldina
[name_f]Piroska[/name_f]
[name_f]Morven[/name_f]
[name_f]Phyllida[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiorenza[/name_f]

Noise (?!)
Vavasour
Buckmaster
[name_m]Tassilo[/name_m]
[name_m]Arundel[/name_m]

And some sibsets:
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] and [name_m]Percival[/name_m]
[name_f]Hebe[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], [name_m]Algernon[/name_m] and [name_m]Inigo[/name_m]
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Fenella[/name_f] and [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]

[name_f]My[/name_f] own picks (though I could have named 10 more from that list!) – [name_m]Clement[/name_m] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] & [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f]
