I voted Aila, but I kind of regret it after much thought.
Aila could be spelt Yla, [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_f]Eila[/name_f], [name_f]Eyla[/name_f] and this bothers be bit
But it’s indeed lovely name, so if it has meaning to you both, then go for it.
I voted Aila given all the meaning to you, but I think both are great and you are likely to be very happy with either, or maybe even end up using both!
Take this with a grain of salt because [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is one of my favorite girl names and I think she’s perfect for you.
I’ve heard from other moms that they fall madly in love with a name when they’re pregnant only to regret it after the child is born. I’m not saying that will happen if you use Aila—it’s a gorgeous name!—but I’ve heard this as the basis of many name regret stories.
I think my only “issue” with Aila is that I keep wanting to say it ay-la in my head, even when I’m typing it out. That’s not really a big issue though, which is why I put “issue” in quotations.
My advice is to keep both names on your list. It’s still early in your pregnancy and there’s no need to stress out! You may up having a boy anyways ([name_u]Finn[/name_u] is also a stunning name). Maybe you’ll find that Aila is a new constant on your list and is the perfect name for your daughter or maybe you’ll find that it was a fleeting love.
[name_u]Piper[/name_u], Aila, and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] would be a cute sibset too!
I get the appeal, but I wouldn’t like being an Aila. Most people would spell it as [name_f]Isla[/name_f], as that’s a very popular name nowadays. And when I see Aila I think ay-lah not eye-lah. Plus you’ve loved [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for a long time, whereas Aila is a newer crush. I’m not saying you’ll regret it, but there’s a higher chance that you will than [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].
