Tell me the good, the bad, and the ugly 🌷

As the title says, I would love to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly of the sibset below! These combos are the ones I’d be most likely to use for my children, so I really want to hear your honest opinions and thoughts on them. Both to see if I truly love these combos, and to see what people would think about them if they just came across a birth announcement with the name randomly! I’ve decided to first list the combos with no explanation, but under the dropbox is the meaning behind the name, so feel free to share what you think of them right off the bat and/or what you think of them after hearing the stories behind the combos! :tulip:

Theodore Bernard Happy ā€œTeddyā€
Cassian Henry Solstice
Eleanor Margaret Bloom
Matilda Alice Juniper ā€œMillieā€
Albert Robin Lilac ā€œBertieā€

Meanings!

Theodore Bernard Happy - Theodore is the boy’s name I’ve loved the longest, and Happy is my fun middle pick! I love how it symbolizes how a child brings happiness to parents. Bernard is an honor for my grandpa who went by Bernie (his name was Kenneth, his father was Bernard.)
Cassian Henry Solstice - Cassian and Solstice are both honors for my favorite book series which got me through a tough time, and made me love books again. Henry is a name I’ve loved for a long time! I think he’s super sweet and cozy.
Eleanor Margaret Bloom - Eleanor is the girl’s name that has been on my list for as long as I can remember. I love how timeless and elegant she is. Margaret honors my sister and grandma who both share the name, and Bloom is my out-there middle!
Matilda Alice Juniper - Matilda to me is such a sweet name, and I love how many nicknames she has! She also somewhat honors my sister and I whose names both start with the letter M. Juniper is another ā€œfun middle,ā€ and Alice is a family name (my grandpa’s mom’s name.)
Albert Robin Lilac - I love how classic Albert is, as well as how he lends himself to the nicknames Albie and Bertie. Lilac is my out-there middle pick, and Robin is an honor for my paternal grandpa who was named Robert! This is my newest combo, so I’m not all that sure of the middle Robin here, but I feel like hearing the berries opinions will help me on this one!

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] [name_u]Happy[/name_u] ~ [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is gorgeous a lovely cuddly cosy name that feels wholesome and has autumnal imagery. [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] is an unexpected choice but just adds to the overall cosy warm feeling of the name. I love the sentiment behind [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] as well. [name_u]Happy[/name_u] is an adorable word name but feels rather summery and doesn’t fit as well with the autumnal flair of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Bernard[/name_m]. I would prefer [name_u]Harvest[/name_u]. I would also have [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Happy[/name_u] [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Harvest[/name_u] [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] I think the flow is better.

[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Solstice[/name_u] ~ [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] is lovely feels romantic, whimsical and eats into this dark academia aesthetic which is very appealing. I love [name_u]Henry[/name_u] he’s a firm favourite! I really like the flow of [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_u]Henry[/name_u]! Also a name inspired by love of books is always fab. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] ~ [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is gorgeous a cottagecore dream she’s sweet, soft and wholesome. I love the nicknames for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] as well. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is also a lovely nature option and provides more Cottagecore fun! Concerning [name_f]Alice[/name_f] I’ve never been a fan despite completely understanding the appeal along with appreciating the sentiment for you. I think flow wise I would have [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

[name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] ~ this name is so [name_f]British[/name_f] daily telegraph birth announcement esque honestly incredibly fashionable. Without looking at the meanings:

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] [name_u]Happy[/name_u] ā€œTeddyā€ - at a first glance, this is vintage, slightly grand and very solid - balanced with the unexpectedness of [name_u]Happy[/name_u] and the sweet [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. Then, you look again and it has this ā€˜happy teddy bear’ feel that’s kind of fun!

[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Solstice[/name_u] - this is elegant, rugged and magical, something slightly story book about it, something adventurous and outdoorsy, a sort of smile in a name?

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] - this is bright, elegant and sophisticated, with a grandeur that doesn’t seem lofty and a nice freshness from [name_f]Bloom[/name_f].

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] ā€˜Millie’ - I love the strength of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] - warrior princess vibes - but also elegant and gentle - added to that the zippy, bright [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and charming [name_f]Millie[/name_f] - it’s a lovely combo

[name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] - I enjoy the flow of this, the quietly bold feel, the gentleness. I prefer [name_u]Albie[/name_u] to [name_u]Bertie[/name_u], but [name_u]Bertie[/name_u] isn’t bad .

As a set, [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] stands out a bit as quite different, but that not might bother you (I think it could work).

[name_m]Reading[/name_m] your meanings, I’ll just add that I like how lots of these are ā€˜honours with a twist’ and the sentiment behind [name_m]Cassian[/name_m]

First thoughts:

I really really like them all in general (Eleanor [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] is my fave ), but I’m not loving some of the middles. I really don’t feel good about using [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] for a boy. I know this is perhaps an unpopular opinion, but it’s just not that long time ago since I was at school. I remember how bad the bullying was between the boys sometimes. It’s an unexpected and rather pretty name in my opinion. In theory I really like it for a boy. Whimsical and cool. However, pretty ( traditionally slightly girly) names for boys command a confident personality and someone who knows how to defend himself. Sadly I think that name could bring unnecessary stress for a little boy / teenager.
[name_u]Happy[/name_u] - same thing, but I’m more okey with this. I just can’t help but thinking about the situation when he is not feeling happy and then someone makes a little stupid joke.
But all that said, I really love the combos.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] [name_u]Happy[/name_u] ā€˜Teddy’ – [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] make a strong, classic, and handsome combo, and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] is sweet as well. Personally I don’t love [name_u]Happy[/name_u], because I feel like it puts pressure on a child to be happy all the time. It just seems like it could feel like a cruel joke to have [name_u]Happy[/name_u] in your name if you struggle with your mental health. I do feel a bit hypocritical because I like the name [name_f]Joy[/name_f], but I think the fact [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is more established as a given name makes the virtue part feel less obvious. I also don’t find the sound of [name_u]Happy[/name_u] personally appealing, and it makes me think of [name_u]Happy[/name_u] Meals.

[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Solstice[/name_u] – Very cool. I think it has a nice balance of classic and unexpected names, and I like the flow a lot as well. I like how it feels like a princely name and has such cool outer space vibes, while still being grounded for a real life little boy. :crown::stars::ringer_planet:

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] – I love the look, sound, and overall vibes of this combo! Sweet, floral, and sunny. The [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] part did call to mind ā€œAre You There [name_m]God[/name_m]? It’s Me, Margaretā€ by [name_f]Judy[/name_f] [name_f]Blume[/name_f] but I don’t think that’s a negative at all (and it’s totally possible that I’m the only one who would make the connection, lol). All around love this one!

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] ā€˜Millie’ – Sweet and fits in with current cottage-core trends! I love both [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f], and I appreciate how they feel delicate and vintage but also strong and spirited. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is a really sweet nickname, too. I think this combo has lovely imagery, and I can imagine it on any personality, which I value in a name.

[name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] ā€˜Bertie’ – The flow is really nice but I don’t love that both middles are nature names. I think [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] ____, with a non-nature name, would make a really handsome combo. I also personally worry a little about teasing with [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] on a boy – I know we shouldn’t give in to bullies, but I also think that a child’s name isn’t necessarily the right place to make a statement because they’re the one who has to live with it. I just worry that a boy might be embarrassed to tell people his middle name is [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], especially if his other middle name is also a unisex choice like [name_u]Robin[/name_u] so together they lean quite feminine. Boys can sadly be so cruel to each other about ā€œfeminineā€ traits. [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_u]Lyle[/name_u] or [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Lyall[/name_m], [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_u]Lionel[/name_u], [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Loic[/name_m], or [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Linus[/name_m] could be similar alternatives?

Having looked at them and then reading about them my opinion is I would really like all of them individually and as a sibset if every single combo dropped the ā€œfun middleā€ placed at the end.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] [name_u]Happy[/name_u]: I am usually not a fan of the nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], but I love how it works for both [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and Bernard’s ā€œbearā€ meaning! [name_m]Genius[/name_m]. This combo has such a beautiful cadence and the middles help [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] feel both playful and wise.

(Happy is not for me, just because I struggle with mental health and I know I wouldn’t like to have this name. @EagleEyes worded it much better than I could—and I love the name [name_f]Joy[/name_f] too but wouldn’t use it myself for this reason. But I can also see someone loving this middle name and interpreting it as a reminder to seek happiness and inspire it in others, or a symbol of a parent’s happiness at having their child. I’m going to have to think about this one.)

[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Solstice[/name_u]: all of these names feel made for each other! This combo feels like springtime to me. I think that [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Solstice[/name_u] on its own would make for a beautiful combo too.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f]: This is probably my favorite! Another springlike combo. It’s endearing me to the names [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Bloom[/name_f], which are not my favorites on their own. I like that there are two classic, grounded names to round out the whimsy of [name_f]Bloom[/name_f]. It’s dignified, creative, powerful all at the same time.

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]: [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is probably my favorite out of your first names. I love this combo for all the same reasons I love your [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] combo (and I think [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would make perfect sisters). I still get an ā€œold ladyā€ vibe from [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] even though they’re more popular for babies now, so I love how much youth [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] adds. It’s nature and greenery and more springtime imagery, and I think the [name_m]Jun[/name_m]- names feel so youthful to me because I think of the [name_u]French[/name_u] word ā€œjeune.ā€

[name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f]: I really love your [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], but I’m not sold on this one just because all of these are two-syllable names with the stress on the first syllable. They feel like staccato together. I do love that both middles are gender-neutral and inspired by nature, which complements the traditional [name_m]Albert[/name_m] very nicely.

Posted before I was done ahh

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] [name_u]Happy[/name_u] ā€œTeddyā€
Before: [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is kinda overused in my circles so I’m not that excited by it but I love [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. Not a huge fan of [name_u]Happy[/name_u], I think it might be hard to grow with, but it does balance the ā€˜old man’ style of the other two names so that sort of makes sense to me.
After: still feel much the same!

[name_m]Cassian[/name_m] [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Solstice[/name_u]
Before: honestly? 10/10 no notes. I love romantic-yet-strong [name_m]Cassian[/name_m], classic [name_u]Henry[/name_u], and mystical [name_u]Solstice[/name_u] together. Perfection.
After: love that it’s book inspired!

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Bloom[/name_f]
Before: not wildly excited by [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] without context, assuming there might be a honour in there? but [name_f]Bloom[/name_f] gives it that extra something.
After: yep, makes total sense for you to use [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]!

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] ā€œMillieā€
Before: I know a lot of Matildas so although I love it, it wouldn’t be my fave to see in an announcement. Very personal subjective opinion! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a classic, can’t go wrong, and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is a bit more contemporary so I like the juxtaposition.
After: I do love the many nicknames for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], my favourite is [name_u]Mattie[/name_u]

[name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] ā€œBertieā€
Before: ahh this is so up my street. I adore [name_u]Bertie[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is timelessly mischievous to me, and [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] is such a lovely, soft twist.
After: okay well with the family connection you definitely need to keep [name_u]Robin[/name_u]!
