Tell me what the name "Calandra" brings to mind

After many agonizing months of back and forth about our girl baby’s name (with a lot of awesome input from Nameberries, which is much appreciated!), my husband and I both realized we like [name_f]Calandra[/name_f] quite a lot. It’s really different from the choices we were both offering up, but it clicks well with both of us.

What kind of vibe/feeling do you get from [name_f]Calandra[/name_f], out of curiosity?

I get the stereotypical ‘[name_u]California[/name_u] Girl’ vibe, simply because I know someone in my area named [name_f]Calandra[/name_f] that goes exclusively by [name_f]Callie[/name_f]. In a nutshell, I see a blonde haired girl with green/blue eyes that is very athletic, but also feminine. She makes sure her clothes are in fashion, but she has her comfy clothes days too. From the name itself, I get somewhat of a casual, semi-formal sort of feel from it. [name_f]Calandra[/name_f] isn’t formal and royal like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], but isn’t trendy like [name_f]Callie[/name_f] by itself can be. I think it’s a good balance between fun and serious.

With no disrespect intended, it sounds made up to me. I visualize that character from Beauty and the Beast that Lumiere (the candlestick) hooks up with-- the french feather duster, [name_f]Babette[/name_f] (far right)… probably because it sounds like candelabra (I know she’s the feather duster and not a candelabra, but I have loose mental associations).

Other than that, it sounds like calendar. And colander. Possibly part of a [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] spell (Accio [name_f]Calandra[/name_f]! [name_f]Calandra[/name_f] Totalus!) But that’s just one person’s opinion. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to totally ignore me. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t want you to have regrets.

[name_m]Calendar[/name_m], definitely

Hey, no offense taken! I come here for honest opinions. I appreciate it. We just hit on it this evening so I like to vet it ASAP before complete name infatuation sets in.

I also think of a calendar, and lavender. Big bushes of bushy purple lavender everywhere
