I am hoping for honest thoughts on Annalyn. I absolutely love both [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f], and would use them as nicknames. I know that -lyn endings are typically considered trendy and unnecessary. However, my name is [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], and I thought it might be a sweet connection to have with a future daughter. So, WDYT? [name_u]Love[/name_u], like, dislike, loathe?
I think it’s pretty in theory, but, and I’m so sorry my mind went here, it reminds me of multiple unpleasant words relating to sex acts.
Again I’m sorry to point that out, because I do think it’s super cute and love the connection to your name. I don’t think it’s too ‘‘trendy’’ at all. It feels very 2018, yeah, but also has classic elements which mean it’s not brash or anything (if that’s something you want to avoid).
Some that have similar sounds I like are [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_f]Angelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]?
Thank you! I have read some other comments about Annal- names and (worse) Anal- names not being great on that front. Unfortunate, but understandable! I appreciate your thoughtfulness, and I do really like [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
I’m not a huge fan, but I wouldn’t call it “trashy” — I just find the -lyn ending a bit overexposed by now. It also puts me in mind of actress AnnaLynne McCord, who tends to play… racy roles.
I know a little [name_f]Annelie[/name_f], which I think is a bit lighter and fresher.
I don’t love the -lyn ending. It does seem a bit too “trendy” and made-up (even though it is) for my taste. Verbally it is pretty nice but after a while it sounds a bit annoying.
What about maybe [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]? It sounds a bit similar to Annalyn.
It’s not my style, but I think it’s usable. If the potential issues prove to be too much to you to use the name, [name_u]Lyn[/name_u] could be a middle. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] “[name_f]Annie[/name_f]” [name_u]Lyn[/name_u] Lastname would work really well, I think. That said, it actually took me a minute to figure out exactly what the previous posters meant (I know, I know, but that’s me) and I don’t think it’ll be a huge problem. If you really want to be safe, you could always use [name_u]Lyn[/name_u] as a middle then call her “[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Lyn[/name_u]”. I know a couple of girls who go by their firsts and middles.
Based just on “trendy”, yes, it is very trendy. But I don’t think that alone is enough to disqualify the name!
I really prefer [name_f]Annalee[/name_f] or [name_f]Annelie[/name_f] or even just [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]. But it’s a nice connection with your own name and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is very sweet.
Thank you so much everyone! All very helpful feedback for me to consider. [name_f]Annelie[/name_f], [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Lyn/name_u are fantastic suggestions
I’m not keen and agree that it is trendy but not good trendy. I find most ‘lyn’ endings offputting and not attractive. [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] or [name_f]Annika[/name_f] are lovely. I mostly just love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] on its own. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] as a combo however would be lovely.
I really like the suggestion of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Lyn/name_u! That way you get the connection, soundwise at least, without the related concerns about trendiness and negative associations.
