Are the names Tessa and Theo to matchy for siblings? These are two of my top baby names for if I have kids but I want some opinions on if they would work as a sibling set. If anyone has any alternative names to either, please feel free to share them as well. My name lists are short so I’ll take all the help I can get. Also would it be consider odd to have a daughter named Tessa when the mom’s name is something like Alyssa, Melissa, or Elissa? Thank you in advance!
I think they work fine! The only major similarity is that they start with the same letter—but not even the same sound. I don’t envision these being problematic or complicated for siblings to wear!
So long as you don’t mind matching initials, Tessa and Theo are all good! They sound different enough to me (that is, if you’re saying them thee-oh and tess-uh, not teh-oh and tess-uh, which are still usable, but closer)
I think it’s fine if the mom’s name is an -issa or -ssa name. A sweet connection between them, but not too obvious.
Some alternative sets, if you want them:
Leo and Tessa
Theo and Etta
Hugo and Tessa
Theo and Gemma
Arlo and Tessa
Leon and Rosie
Theo and Willa
Rory and Tessa
Theo and Daisy
Jesse and Cleo
Otis and Ada
I don’t think they’re too matchy. They only start with the same letter, lots of siblings have names that start with the same letter.
It would be too matchy if they rhymed, were the boy and girl versions of the same name, or if you had 3 more kids and named them [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_f]Tara[/name_f], and [name_m]Timmy[/name_m]. But [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] on their own are just fine.
And [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] is also fine with your first name. [name_f]My[/name_f] name and my mom’s name also end in the same sound (they’re actually more alike than [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] and Tessa), and no one’s ever mentioned the similarity to either of us. I don’t think anyone really notices, and wouldn’t unless we pointed it out.
