The last time I added [name_f]Tess[/name_f] to my list, I fell for [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and that’s been my combo for a while now. But I had originally wanted to use [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]–I just didn’t like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] as much as I did [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f]. But I came across [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] when I suggested it to another member (sorry, I don’t remember your username–[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]'s mama!), and I’m falling for it really hard!
So can we talk about [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f], please? Which do you prefer? Which do you think fits better on the names on this list (Vote on Name Lists at BabyNames.com)?
I don’t have a family name picked out for [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] yet, but I have a few ideas I’m thinking about.
I really like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]. I would also like just [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] is okay, but it looks off to me for some reason. I think its just I’m so used to the [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] spelling that the ‘F’ in [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] is sticking out like a sore thumb.
I really like them both. I think I like the name [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] with the nn of [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. But I also really like names that give way to nicknames. Both are very very beautiful and I don’t think you could go wrong.
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] is gorgeous! I like [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] more than [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as a formal name, and although I obviously love [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], I’m not a huge fan of the “f” spelling. [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] is another favorite of mine – if we hadn’t decided on a “ph” theme for our daughters’ middle names, [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] would be on my list – so [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] is my pick.
[name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] flows much better in my opinion, but I do prefer [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] over [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. My only issue with [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] is the repeated UH sound at the end of [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] and the beginning of [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]. Perhaps I’m pronouncing it wrong, but this way the flow is all off. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
Thanks everyone! I’m still quite torn. Anyone else want to weigh in? And general opinions on if [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] is the best of both worlds, or just a disappointment?
I like [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] actually.
[name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] is more interesting than [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. All those soft M, N and L sounds are so very on trend and [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] just follows the pattern. I love [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] for a boy, the soft, feminine, elaborate feel is more unexpected.
[name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] is all kinds of wonderful ^^ [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] runs together somewhat, but I would like it better with a second middle to balance the rhythm. [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] would be better without a second middle.
I would say pearly based on your other names that [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would work the best, however I personally prefer [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] by a landslide. I would also say that, like several others I much prefer the “[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]” spelling over “[name_f]Ofelia[/name_f]”. I’m also of the opinion that [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is a much better nickname for [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] then a stand alone name.
I love [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f]; by far my favorite. Although both are great names, there’s something sort of “cutesy” about [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].
