Tessa or Tess

We’ve added [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] to our final list of names and plan on calling her [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. Would it make more sense if we just name her [name_f]Tess[/name_f] if we don’t plan on using her full name often/ever? Or is it better to keep [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] for more options for her as she grows up? Also, would [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] be too choppy?

Hello. Congratulations on your child. I think you should name her [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is a cute nickname, but as you said, [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] gives her more options when she is older. It gives her a name that ages well and can be used in a lot of formal situations.

I like the middle name too, with either [name_f]Tess[/name_f] or [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. I think it also provides for a lot of nicknames, [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. I absolutely love the name [name_f]Tess[/name_f], as one of my favorite book characters was named that and I picture an elegant, loving person under that.

Good luck.

I would use [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] sounds like Ta’[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

I would also use [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! I’m gonna second the Ta’[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] comment, haha. You could definitely call her [name_f]Tess[/name_f] if you name her [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], as well, so it’s a win-win =]

Assuming that you’re going to use [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as a middle name, you could always put [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] on the birth certificate and then use [name_f]Tess[/name_f] in everyday situations. For example, my full name is [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], which, as a teenberry, I intend to use when I reach adulthood. However, in everyday life I use [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. As manna said, it’s a win-win.

Definitely [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. You can always call her [name_f]Tess[/name_f] too.

[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], for sure. It flows much better, you still get to call her [name_f]Tess[/name_f], and then she has the option later in life if she would rather go by [name_f]Tess[/name_f] or not (or make [name_f]Tess[/name_f] just a family/close friends nickname, and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] for everyone else).

I vote [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. You can always call her [name_f]Tess[/name_f], and this way she has the option of [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] later.

I love [name_f]Tess[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f]. I think I would choose [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] just for the simple fact that it gives her more of an option. If she wants to go by either one then she could. I think [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is absolutely fine as a stand alone name but [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] sounds lovely and that’s the one that gets my vote!

My vote is for naming the child what you intend to call her. So I vote for [name_f]Tess[/name_f].
The way I say it, the “ss” and “Ch” do not overlap. I don’t run them together.

I would agree that [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] has a better flow and gives more options as she gets older but still leaves [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as a possibility.
