Thaddeus James Nickname ideas

We just found out our third baby is a boy! (We have two girls already!) We’ve decided on the name [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. Both family names on both sides. We are having a hard time coming up with a nickname. My husband wants to call him [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] but I feel like that is kid of weird. However, that is what his uncle was called (named [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]). I was thinking [name_m]Tad[/name_m] or [name_m]Thad[/name_m]? Any other ideas? Is just calling him [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] too much? I realize when he is older he will probably be called TJ. I’m kind of loathing that day… THanks for help!

I actually Like [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] by itself. [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] sounds childish, but if your Husband likes it that much maybe it can be his special nickname for him. I like [name_m]Tad[/name_m] as opposed to [name_m]Thad[/name_m]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

Out of [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] you can also get [name_m]Ed[/name_m] or [name_m]Edd[/name_m]. I think [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] for a baby nickname is really cute.

[name_m]Tad[/name_m] is the way to go, I think. I can also see [name_u]Taj[/name_u] ([name_m]ThAddeus[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]).

thanks for the help! I like [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], but I agree it does sound somewhat childish. We have some time to discuss it

when i think of [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], i think of the Disney movie, [name_f]Atlantis[/name_f]. there was a character named [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] [name_m]Thatch[/name_m]. what would you think of [name_m]Thatch[/name_m]?

I’m mystified as to why [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] being “childish” (I disagree) is a bad thing. You’re considering nicknames for a child, are you not?

I love the nickname [name_m]Tad[/name_m]/[name_m]Thad[/name_m]!
Another consideration: Taz.
I have a friend who goes by Tj, but I often call him Teej (if that appeals more to you).
I also think you could get away with [name_u]Theo[/name_u] or [name_m]Tod[/name_m], if you wanted.

I like [name_m]Tad[/name_m]. That is the traditional nickname for [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m]. It is nice and short, and simple. Good name.

You’re right. Thanks for pointing that out. I do like it a lot but for some reason I’m thinking ahead too much :stuck_out_tongue: It does sound adorable for a baby boy. He will go by what he wants when he is older.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Thady[/name_m] (Thae-[name_f]Dee[/name_f])?

I’m considering [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] too! It’s my husband’s favourite boys names and his middle name would also be [name_u]James[/name_u], how strange. Funny thing is, the main thing that puts me off [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] is that I don’t love any of the nicknames.

I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] but I’d only ever considered it as a nickname for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m] but now that you’ve mentioned it, I think it’s totally plausible as a nickname for [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m].

I’m unsure about [name_m]Thad[/name_m] and [name_m]Tad[/name_m], I go through times of liking both of them but I’m never too sure.

My favourite nickname for [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] is [name_m]Tadeo[/name_m] which is the Italian (I think) form. While I love it, it does seem a bit silly though, since after all, it’s the same amount of syllables.

There’s nothing wrong with just calling him [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] all the time, there’s loads of people who go by their full name who have long names (and really, [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] isn’t even that long).

Have you consider [name_u]Theo[/name_u], Thaddy, [name_m]Taddy[/name_m], Deo (prn. [name_f]Dayo[/name_f] perhaps?) or Deus? Some how I think you could even use [name_m]Jed[/name_m], [name_u]Thames[/name_u] (prn Tems or like [name_u]James[/name_u]) or Thamie, they’re a bit more of a stretch but with [name_u]James[/name_u] as his middle name you could get away with it xx

[name_m]Thad[/name_m] would be my first choice as a nickname. If only family members know his middle name and you stress ‘[name_m]Thad[/name_m]’ or whatever you want him to be called opposed to TJ I don’t think you will have any issues.
