I once knew someone named Thaddeus who went by the nickname Tad, but it seems from old nameberry forums a lot of people do pronounce the Th. Do you personally pronounce Thaddeus as Tad—ee-us or THad-ee-us?
- TAD-ee-us
- THad-ee-us

I would pronounce it THad-ee-us
THad-ee-us
I’ve only heard it with a Th- sound. I think a THaddeus could still go by [name_m]Tad[/name_m].
I’ve only heard it pronounced [name_m]Thad[/name_m]! A [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] can definitely still be [name_m]Tad[/name_m] though, the same way a [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] can be Ted!!
I grew up in a town that had a strong Hispanic influence and have heard the name in both cultures. With the [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciation being thad-ee-us and the Spanish pronunciation being tad-day-ous
Thad-ee-us for me too! Although with my accent it would probably sound more like Ta-dees unless I really enunciated
I’m pronouncing the ‘H’ as well So [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u]
[name_m]Tad[/name_m] is still a nn for [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] whether you pronounce it the [name_f]English[/name_f] way or in any other language.
Like someone else said [name_m]Tad[/name_m] is the accepted nickname regardless of pronunciation.
I would pronounce it THad-ee-us, but I’ve seen [name_m]Tad[/name_m] used as a nickname for that pronunciation too. (like Ted/Teddy for Theodore)
I have an uncle and cousin both named [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u]. Both pronounce it as THad-ee-us. [name_f]My[/name_f] uncle goes (or used to go) by [name_m]Ted[/name_m] but goes by TJ now while his son (my cousin) goes by [name_m]Tad[/name_m]. They’re both [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] [name_u]John[/name_u] as well.
