hi berries! i need your suggestions, please
I love girls names that have a long, foreign “[name_m]Ah[/name_m]” sound in the middle of the name, such as in: nadia, katja
or at the start of the name, such as in: annika or anja.
the roots of these name are usually swiss, german or russian.
Problem is, i can’t think of any more names than the ones i mentioned above Could you help me out?
I love [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Annika[/name_f]! And the suggestions of [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] or [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]! Those are fantastic!
What about:
Gracja (Polish name, so sort-of similar origins. Pronounced GRAHsyah. Maybe it could be spelled [name_f]Gracia[/name_f] too?)
[name_f]Milana[/name_f] (mee-lah-nah. There’s a little Belarussian girl in my church with this name! I like [name_f]Milena[/name_f] more, but I think [name_f]Milana[/name_f]'s really cute)
[name_f]Mara[/name_f] (or even [name_f]Zara[/name_f], [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Lara[/name_f], etc.!)
[name_f]Alina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alla[/name_f]
[name_f]Nastia[/name_f] (sort of in the same vein as [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], but it wouldn’t really work very well in an English speaking country, unfortunately. :()
[name_f]Valeria[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonina[/name_f]/[name_f]Antonella[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
[name_f]Darya[/name_f]
[name_f]Galina[/name_f]
[name_f]Zhanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Zana[/name_f]/[name_f]Zanna[/name_f] (Depending on how you say [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]/[name_f]Susana[/name_f], that, too)
Zlata (which I find so quirky and intriguing!)
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
Kapitolina (which is probably really crazy, but I like it, haha)
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Natalya[/name_f]
[name_f]Oksana[/name_f]
[name_f]Olesya[/name_f] (Russian form of [name_f]Alexa/name_f)
[name_f]Renata[/name_f]
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f]
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] (depending on your enunciation)
[name_f]Yana[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Gracia[/name_f] and [name_f]Daria[/name_f]!
[name_f]Renata[/name_f] as well, though it’s a bit frilly feeling to me.
I actually know a young girl named [name_f]Yanna[/name_f]. Very cool name!
My family is Polish-American and has always called me by the Polish version of my name ([name_f]Catherine[/name_f]), which is [name_f]Katarzyna[/name_f] (prn: [name_f]KAT[/name_f]-ar-JIH-nah (with the “ar” syllable said very fast and with a sort of rolling r) – my best rendition of the Polish prn. It’s really beautiful if you say it right), nn [name_f]Kasia[/name_f]. Either of those would work. My cousin (actually in Poland) just named her daughter Malzena (prn: maul-[name_f]JEN[/name_f]-a). The Polish prns are difficult to translate and that could cause problems, but the names are so beautiful it’s almost worth it.
Your prn of the name [name_f]Katarzyna[/name_f] sounds exactly like how we pronounce my cousins name ‘[name_f]Katarina[/name_f]’ Very beautiful, yes!
Thanks for your suggestions berries! Keeo them coming
