[name_f]My[/name_f] cousins, sister and I had some of the dolls growing up and I went on to read the books to my own little boy, so I have a bit of a soft spot for them. I noticed that they just came out with…get this…90s dolls as a part of their historical doll collection. (I was born in that decade so it is a bit entertaining to see this lol)
Anyway, the dolls are twins named [name_f]Nicki[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. They are apparently 9 and their series takes place in 1999, in Seattle. [name_m]Just[/name_m] some context.
Their names aren’t really anachronistic by any means but they don’t really scream 90s to me. That got me thinking about what I would name them instead…and what you all would!
I’d probably go with [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] or [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] and [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]. Those were pretty common when/where I grew up. Twins sharing an initial also seemed pretty common back then.
What would you call them? [name_m]Just[/name_m] light hearted fun. (Sorry if this is in the wrong place)
Nicki/Nicole feels very 90s to me but [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] is definitely not. I’d go with something like [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] “Nicki” and [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nicki[/name_f] seems very plausible for a 1990 baby (Nicole was #13), but I agree [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] (#339 in 1990!) is definitely an outlier.
[name_u]Ashley[/name_u] and [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] seem perfect, as well as the previously mentioned [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] & [name_f]Natalie[/name_f].
Totally agree with what’s been said!!! [name_f]Nicki[/name_f] is on point but Isabel??? Also… I may be wrong but I feel like there’s already an [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] AGD. Would definitely have expected [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u], [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], Ashley…maybe Brittney/Brittany or [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f] even!
[name_f]Nicki[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] I can see… but I’m in agreement on [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]! I think I’d name them with matchy initials, too. Seems like a spunky detail that adds some oomph. I’d pick either… [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Heather[/name_f]
or [name_u]Allison[/name_u] and [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]
I had the same reaction to the twins names! I was shocked one of the twins wasn’t [name_f]Katie[/name_f] or [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. [name_f]Nicki[/name_f] seemed fairly 90s to me, but not [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] the names in the book from the preview were surprising to me (though I did have friends named [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_f]Cammie[/name_f] from the 90s)
I think [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] and [name_f]Amanda[/name_f] would have been perfect
I love the name [name_f]Nicki[/name_f], it feels pretty 90s to me but I’m not too keen on [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] either. I also feel like these two names don’t go together very well, especially for twins.
90’s era was very much [name_u]Olsen[/name_u] Twins era for me so I’d definitely pick [name_u]Ashley[/name_u].
[name_u]Ashley[/name_u] & [name_f]Nicki[/name_f] / [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] could actually work together.
Other than that I’d definitely consider using the same Initials so I’m seconding the below:
[name_u]Ashley[/name_u] & [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]
or
[name_f]Nicki[/name_f] & [name_f]Natalie[/name_f]
or
[name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] & [name_f]Jessica[/name_f]
The pairs that came to my mind:
Bailey & Brianna
Courtney & Kelsey
Lauren & Allison
Crystal & Caitlyn
Marissa & Mallory
Alexandra & Victoria / ‘Allie’ & ‘Tori’
[name_f]Nicki[/name_f] feels 90s to me but not Isabel!!
If I was to keep [name_f]Nicki[/name_f] (let’s say it’s a nickname to Nicole)
[name_f]Nicole[/name_f] and [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] ‘Nicki and Dani’
[name_f]Nicole[/name_f] and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] ‘Nicki and Abby’
[name_f]Nicole[/name_f] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f] ‘Nicki and Meg’
Having looked these two up, here’s what I’d call them:
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] and [name_u]Erin[/name_u]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] and [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u] and [name_f]Brianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Amber[/name_f] and [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] and [name_u]Shelby[/name_u] ‘Cass and Shelby’
