Hey everyone! Most of you know me as Freckles. I love giving name advice and I’m in need of some at the moment. No, I’m not expecting, but a name has been on my mind a lot recently and that name is [name]EMMA[/name]. Now, my long time favorite girls names are nothing like [name]Emma[/name]. Most of them are extremely uncommon in the states, have cute nicknames and are musty-vintage-chic. Names like [name]Philippa[/name], [name]Theodora[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Mabel[/name], [name]Cornelia[/name], [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Eloise[/name]. My guilty pleasure names have always been the edgier type of names (particularly word names) like [name]Juno[/name], [name]Liberty[/name], [name]Sonnet[/name], [name]Tuesday[/name], etc.
But I can’t get [name]Emma[/name] out of my head. She’s soft and sweet BUT the second most popular name in the country, and that just won’t do. So, I’m wondering if you name geniuses out there can help me find some names (or a name) that has the same qualities of [name]Emma[/name], but isn’t insanely popular (conversely, the more uncommon the better).
Hey! Thanks so much for this list. [name]How[/name] could I forget [name]Tessa[/name]!? It was a favorite of mine as a little girl and it totally has the same qualities as [name]Emma[/name]. I love [name]Libby[/name]. I’d probably use it as a nickname for [name]Elisabeth[/name] or [name]Liberty[/name], but it’s so sweet. [name]Pippa[/name] is also probably my favorite nickname (for [name]Philippa[/name]). Thanks again!
Again, love [name]Tessa[/name]! [name]Pia[/name] is a name I’ve always been really interested in. I’ll have to throw it around in my head a bit but it’s definitely a contender for my list. [name]Nell[/name] is also a nickname I’ve loved for a long time (for [name]Helen[/name] or [name]Helena[/name])- [name]Nellie[/name] is so sweet! Thanks!
[name]Willa[/name]! I love her. And [name]Martha[/name]! I feel like I should like [name]Gemma[/name], but there’s something about it that feels harsher to me, I’m not sure why.
I love [name]Emmeline[/name], though I pronounce it [name]Emma[/name]-leen. It’s on my list but I feel it’s going to be the next big thing in the “[name]Em[/name]” names. I also like [name]Emiliana[/name] and [name]Emmanuelle[/name] but they’re a bit more obscure. The other problem with [name]Emmeline[/name] is spelling and pronunciation. I’ve seen it spelled [name]Emeline[/name], [name]Emmaline[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name], Emelene, etc. and pronounced [name]Emma[/name]-leen, [name]Emma[/name]-line and [name]Emma[/name]-lyn.
I love [name]Thalia[/name] and [name]Talia[/name], and one name I never hear much of anymore is [name]Paula[/name]. I love that name!
