The Ever-Elusive Number 10

I’ve had the top 9 spots on my girls’ list set for what seems like forever now ([name]Isabelle[/name] “[name]Bella[/name]”, [name]Arianne[/name] “[name]Ari[/name]”, [name]Olivia[/name] “[name]Liv[/name]/[name]Olive[/name]”, [name]Violet[/name], [name]Rachel[/name], [name]Eleni[/name] “[name]Leni[/name]”, [name]Sophia[/name] “[name]Posey[/name]”, [name]Charlotte[/name] “[name]Lola[/name]/[name]Lottie[/name]”, and [name]Liliana[/name] “[name]Lily[/name]”), but the last spot I just can’t seem to settle on. These are the recent candidates–wdyt of them? [name]Do[/name] they fit with the top 9? Any suggestions you think would fit with these current crushes and the top 9?

[name]Adeline[/name] (possibly nn [name]Addy[/name]? I’m not a huge fan of the other options…)
[name]Anneliese[/name] “[name]Annie[/name]” (both this and [name]Hannah[/name] are honoring, but it won’t matter a huge deal, since MNs will honor if the FN does not…)
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Elisabeth[/name]/[name]Elizabeth[/name] “[name]Tess[/name]”
[name]Eve[/name] “[name]Evie[/name]”
[name]Eve[/name]-[name]Claire[/name] “[name]Evie[/name]” (I know the 1-1 syllable flow won’t be popular, but my grandmother was [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Mae[/name], so I like to think that even if it doesn’t obviously honor her, [name]Eve[/name]-[name]Claire[/name] is a nod to her, and I like it infinitely more than [name]Eva[/name]-[name]Claire[/name])
[name]Genevieve[/name] “[name]Evie[/name]/[name]Ginny[/name]” ([name]Ginny[/name] would be honoring, even though [name]Genevieve[/name] does not)
[name]Hannah[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Zara[/name]

I also quite like [name]Piper[/name] “[name]Pippa[/name]”, [name]Magda[/name] (possibly nn [name]Maggie[/name]), [name]Eliska[/name], and [name]Serena[/name], but I’m not sure I like them quite as much as the others.

Thanks, ladies!

[name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Arianne[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Rachel[/name], [name]Eleni[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Liliana[/name], [name]Anneliese[/name], [name]Elisabeth[/name], Genenvieve and [name]Willa[/name] seem to fit the best to me.

My preference in order:
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Elisabeth[/name]
[name]Anneliese[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]

I really like [name]Serena[/name], but I don’t like [name]Piper[/name] at all. [name]Eliska[/name] is nice, but it doesn’t fit with your other girls.
I also like the [name]Eve[/name]-[name]Claire[/name] combo, very cute!

I love [name]Daphne[/name]!

[name]Willa[/name] and [name]Tess[/name] are lovely too.

[name]Magda[/name] is a favorite of mine, but as a nickname for [name]Magdalena[/name].

I think [name]Adeline[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], and [name]Piper[/name] are the best fits. Though if [name]Grace[/name] had been an option I would have picked that hands down!

I think [name]Anneliese[/name] is a good fit too but with [name]Liliana[/name] and [name]Arianne[/name] it might be a little overkill to have another [name]Anne[/name] name. [name]Hannah[/name] seems to fit in more subtly than [name]Anneliese[/name] in this aspect.

I like [name]Daphne[/name] a lot for you too, but you seem to doubt it more and more every day so I don’t know that you really love it.

All the others are nice but just don’t seem to fit in as well.

Yeah, I don’t know. When I look at the combo I have, I can’t stand it, haha, but when I look at it on its own, I don’t hate it so much anymore. So I figured I’d give it another chance. It just depends on the day. There are a ton of names I used to like with it, but now I’m not really sure I love it in any combo. I don’t know. We’ll see. I really like [name]Willa[/name], [name]Zara[/name], and [name]Eve[/name] right now. They’re a lot shorter than I usually go, though.

Ahhh, sweet [name]Grace[/name]. :frowning: I had actually made a post about it on another forum a day or two ago, because I really like it, but I always have doubts. I was seriously considering replacing [name]Daphne[/name] with [name]Grace[/name], but then I thought about it more and more… and I really don’t like [name]Gracie[/name]. Like, at all. And there are two Graces at my church. [name]Even[/name] though they are predominantly called [name]Grace[/name] by their family, the whole rest of the church insists on calling them [name]Gracie[/name], even though I’m sure they’ve grown out of it by now (it was cute when they were 4–not so much now, when they’re nearly teenagers). So the whole fact that she would definitely be [name]Grace[/name] R., since there’s already a [name]Grace[/name] C. and a [name]Grace[/name] D., not to mention the fact that the whole church (not to mention my mom, who is the worst [name]Gracie[/name] culprit ever, lol) would call her [name]Gracie[/name] not just [name]Grace[/name]… I don’t know that I could do it. I still really, really love [name]Grace[/name] [name]Mirabelle[/name], [name]Grace[/name] [name]Ariadne[/name], and [name]Grace[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name], though. :frowning: Besides, it’s so short next to [name]Liliana[/name], [name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Arianne[/name], etc. Then again, [name]Eve[/name] is even shorter, lol.

[name]Adeline[/name] (possibly nn [name]Addy[/name]? I’m not a huge fan of the other options…) - I vastly prefer [name]Madeline[/name].
[name]Anneliese[/name] “[name]Annie[/name]” (both this and [name]Hannah[/name] are honoring, but it won’t matter a huge deal, since MNs will honor if the FN does not…) - after someone said that it sounds like “anal ease”, I have never been able to look at this name the same way again.
[name]Daphne[/name] - beautiful.
[name]Elisabeth[/name]/[name]Elizabeth[/name] “[name]Tess[/name]” - I’ve never heard [name]Tess[/name] for [name]Elisabeth[/name] (my preferred spelling) before, that’s lovely, even if I like [name]Tessa[/name] just a smidgeon more.
[name]Eve[/name] “[name]Evie[/name]” - You can never go wrong with [name]Eve[/name], or my beloved [name]Eva[/name]. Elegant, classic, clean sound, just perfect.
[name]Eve[/name]-[name]Claire[/name] “[name]Evie[/name]” (I know the 1-1 syllable flow won’t be popular, but my grandmother was [name]Ruth[/name] [name]Mae[/name], so I like to think that even if it doesn’t obviously honor her, [name]Eve[/name]-[name]Claire[/name] is a nod to her, and I like it infinitely more than [name]Eva[/name]-[name]Claire[/name]) - it sounds as if you’re trying to be French (à la [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name]), and I like [name]Clare[/name] better.
[name]Genevieve[/name] “[name]Evie[/name]/[name]Ginny[/name]” ([name]Ginny[/name] would be honoring, even though [name]Genevieve[/name] does not) - another name you can’t go wrong with. It’s a family name on my mother’s side and I would use it with the nickname [name]Eva[/name] or [name]Evie[/name] in a heartbeat.
[name]Hannah[/name] - it’s very much dated to the 1980s-1990s, and I think [name]Anna[/name] is much nicer in its simplicity.
[name]Willa[/name] - this is one that has been growing on me of late.
[name]Zara[/name] - another newcomer to my radar. Simple, sweet, and the Z spices it up a bit.

Suggestions

[name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name] ([name]Liliana[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]? [name]Eve[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]?)
[name]Sylvia[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] ([name]Jane[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name] is just divine)
[name]Laurel[/name] (the meaning of [name]Daphne[/name], quite similar to [name]Liliana[/name])
[name]Ianthe[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Zinnia[/name]
[name]Azalea[/name]
[name]Zelda[/name]

My favorite is [name]Daphne[/name].

I like every single name on your list except for [name]Eleni[/name].
My favorites of your ‘new’ list are: [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Piper[/name] (though I honestly like all of them!)

Thanks, ladies!

I’ve eliminated 3 ([name]Adeline[/name], [name]Anneliese[/name], and [name]Genevieve[/name]), but I’m adding another two to the mix:

[name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name].

[name]Eleanor[/name]'s one I’ve been crushing on for weeks, and I just love the nns (I’ve tossed around [name]Ella[/name], [name]Elea[/name], [name]Lena[/name], [name]Leni[/name]…), and [name]Eliza[/name]‘s one I’ve loved for at least ten years, but I got rid of it when I saw it on everyone’s lists. I still love it, but it just doesn’t seem as special as I thought it was when it was relatively unknown… I’m not sure how well either of them fit with my other girls’ names, though…

I haven’t really tossed around a lot of combos, but I’ve been thinking [name]Zara[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Matilda[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Clementine[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Gwendolyn[/name], [name]Eve[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]/[name]Eve[/name] [name]Madeleine[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Sophie[/name], so far. In case that swings any votes. I’m not sure I really love any of the [name]Eleanor[/name] combos yet, though.

I like [name]Piper[/name] a lot, though I wish you liked [name]Parker[/name] more haha! I think [name]Hannah[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] fit really well.

lol, several years ago I actually had a massive GP crush on your name. I think it had everything to do with [name]Parker[/name] from the TV show Leverage. I still like it for a girl but could you even imagine [name]Isabelle[/name] and [name]Parker[/name] as sisters? I can’t, haha.

I [name]LOVE[/name]: [name]Willa[/name], [name]Daphne[/name] and [name]Elisabeth[/name] “[name]Tess[/name]”.
Instead of [name]Eve[/name]-[name]Claire[/name], what about [name]Clara[/name]-[name]Eve[/name]? Although, I do understand you have sentimental reasons behind it. [name]Just[/name] a suggestion.

Oh I love Leverage, another female [name]Parker[/name] is hard to find! Well since I am [name]Parker[/name] [name]Isabelle[/name] I can haha but I am sure a lot of others ever could haha!

I think I’m down to 4, ladies! [name]Eve[/name] “[name]Evie[/name]”, [name]Eleanor[/name] “[name]Ella[/name]/[name]Lena[/name]”, [name]Elisabeth[/name] “[name]Tess[/name]”, and [name]Zara[/name]. Any more thoughts?
