Personally, I prefer [name_m]Graham[/name_m]. For some reason, I always think of ‘gruff’ as a personality trait when I hear [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. I know someone named [name_m]Graham[/name_m] that uses [name_u]Gray[/name_u] as a nn and I’ve always thought that was handsome.
I much prefer [name_m]Graham[/name_m]. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] sounds like a D&D fan name.
Normally I’d choose [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], but I love [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m].
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] though could have the nickname [name_u]Finn[/name_u], which is a plus imo. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is my 2nd choice.
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] makes me think of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_u]Bell[/name_u]. I also just generally prefer the name [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] (it’s always been on my list), so I went with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
This is the OP. [name_m]Just[/name_m] realized that I didn’t say much about our middle name choices. [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] is my late grandfather’s name, [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] was my husband’s #1 choice for a first (vetoed due to the popularity factor) and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is just a name we both like.
Thanks so much for the feedback thus far! And shieldsc, I tend to agree about [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] being too close to [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_u]Bell[/name_u] but thought I might be the only one. DH obviously doesn’t agree.
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is so handsome!!!
As a name, I personally like [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], but then, I read the older sisters name is [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m] flow much nicer than [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. My vote is for [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
Congrats!
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] has a really nice flow, but I am super biased when it comes to [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], so [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] got my vote!! [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]- What an adorable pair!! I vote [name_m]Graham[/name_m] 100%! What is [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]'s MN?
Really loving [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]! Super handsome, and [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is an adorable nn. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_m]Graham[/name_m]/[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_u]Gray[/name_u] are really sweet together. [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] would be my second choice–I rather like the tie to [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_u]Bell[/name_u], actually.
Good luck!
I like [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] equally (both are on my boys list), but I would choose [name_m]Graham[/name_m] if I were you. I think [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] sound better together, and love the nickname [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. I know [name_m]Graham[/name_m] has become more popular in the last five years or so, but it’s still only a few places ahead of [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], and I don’t see either ever becoming a Top 10, even Top 25, name. Top 50, maybe both, but there’s no way to solidly predict that, so I don’t think you should worry about it. Also, I don’t think [name_m]Graham[/name_m] sounds “soft” - it doesn’t have any harsh sounds, but it doesn’t sound like a pushover - more gentle and strong, which I think is a good thing.
I ended up choosing [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], because I’m partial to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] sounds great to my ears as well, and I almost chose it, but I read that the [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_u]Bell[/name_u] similarity kind of bothers you, so I didn’t. Really, though, I doubt too many people would notice, and then, who would care? A.G. [name_u]Bell[/name_u] isn’t exactly a bad namesake to have. The name does flow really well, you have to give your hubby that. [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] sounds good, I’m just not fond of the name [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] itself.
I voted for [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], although I actually like [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] better. The [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_u]Bell[/name_u] similarity was too much for me.
Think about it this way - you have 6 great choices, and really can’t go wrong! I like all, but have a slight preference for [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] since I like the way it sounds and is a bit less popular than [name_m]Graham[/name_m] (but I wouldn’t call it edgy), and I chose the MN [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] since that was your husband’s original favorite, and it sounds great with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] anyway.
[name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] sounds beautiful !
I personally not a huge fan of either. I have never met anyone called [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and I only know elder men with the name [name_m]Graham[/name_m]. When I think about it I lean more towards [name_m]Graham[/name_m] and I think it goes with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] so well.
I prefer the spunky [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] with sister [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] has a little more edge and roughness to him. I think [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] matches [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]'s strength better than [name_m]Graham[/name_m] in my opinion. Personally, if I lived in a conservative area I would probably do the exact opposite of what was expected of me.
I voted for [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m].
This is the OP. Thanks so much for all the thoughtful responses. It’s interesting to me that the totals for each name are so close–as of right now, 27 votes for [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and 25 for [name_m]Graham[/name_m]. I have just one last question. Our last name is 3 syllables and somewhat of a mouthful (starts with an S). Given this, do you think a 4-syllable middle like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] would be too much?
Thanks again to all! The feedback is incredibly helpful.
