I must have been five or younger, cause I remember the room where I made the list, and it was in the home my family moved from when I was five. I didn’t write it down, but I remember it was a list of regular names for girls. I don’t remember exactly what I meant by that, but the names I remember being on the list are:
[name]Mary[/name]
[name]Ann[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Jane[/name] (Not 100% it was [name]Jane[/name], but I’m pretty sure there was a fifth and I think it was [name]Jane[/name])
No idea where I got these by the way. I knew one girl named [name]Mary[/name] and I think two named [name]Sarah[/name], no Anns or [name]Janes[/name] or Alices (a few Alisons though). And I had a list of regular last names:
When I was 9 we got our first computer. I got a game called Babyz, and got my first ever name book from the grocery store. After scouring it for days, I came up with a name for my virtual baby. [name]GLORIA[/name]. If it was a boy I was going to go with [name]COLTRANE[/name]. Not bad for a 9 yr. old, if I do say so myself.
When I was in 2nd grade I wanted to name my kids [name]Heidi[/name] and [name]Randy[/name]…lol
I have no clue where I got [name]Heidi[/name] from but [name]Randy[/name] was from Home Improvement
[name]Heidi[/name] is from Home Improvement, too! The girl from Tool Time who replaced [name]Pam[/name] [name]Anderson[/name] was [name]Heidi[/name]! LOL
I remember thinking hard about my future kids’ names when I was 7 or 8 and thought I would go with:
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Cynthia[/name] (I don’t have a clue where I got this one!)
[name]Madge[/name] (I think this was one of [name]Barbie[/name]'s friends, but not completely sure - she was red-headed Irish and GORGEOUS!)
I’m glad I got over these names, and I’m sure my kids are even more!
I went through the phase where you think it would be brilliant to name your daughters [name]Diamond[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Emerald[/name], [name]Sapphire[/name] (I had a few more on there, I believe) and your sons [name]Rock[/name] and [name]Stone[/name]. In my defense, I was around six
I occasionally pretended, when I was fed up of my older siblings bossing me around, that I had seven younger sisters. I’m not sure why it was seven, but they were all named after Disney princesses. [name]Ariel[/name], [name]Jasmine[/name], [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name] all work, but I distinctly remember there being a [name]Snow[/name] White in there, too!
Ooo…Twinkle, you reminded me that my other favorite was [name]Amethyst[/name], from the book “The Ordinary [name]Princess[/name]”. There were a bunch of princesses all named after gemstones, the youngest being [name]Amethyst[/name] who went by [name]Amy[/name] because she was simply “ordinary”.
When I was really little (4-and 5-years old), I loved the names [name]Susie[/name] and [name]Sally[/name].
Then when I got older (8-thru 10-years-old), I loved [name]Sandy[/name] and [name]Stacy[/name]. Hmmm…a lot of the names I loved started with “S”.
When I was a little bit older, I read a book by [name]Zilpha[/name] Keatley Snyder that made me love the name [name]Elizabeth[/name].
The boys’ names I loved were [name]David[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], and [name]Andrew[/name].
At some point I started loving the name [name]Justin[/name]. Then I loved [name]Ian[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name].
When my sister and I would play games we would make our younger brother dress up and he was always called [name]Sonny[/name]! I also loved the name [name]Samantha[/name] for some reason.
I distinctly remember a 3rd grade writing assignment where you were to write what you would change your name to and I wanted to be
Shelisa [name]Ellie[/name]- not currently one of my top names although I am having a girl in [name]May[/name], maybe I should return to my roots.
I also always named my Barbies [name]Lily[/name] & [name]Holden[/name]
clearly my mom watches As the World Turns
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Charity[/name] (Not sure where this came from, especially at five; but it’s still one of my favorites.)
[name]Sara[/name] (Not [name]Sarah[/name]!)
When I was fourteen (five years ago) my favorite names were:
[name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Aubrey[/name] (for boys) - I was reading the book series by [name]Amelia[/name] Atwater-[name]Rhodes[/name] about vampires and [name]Aubrey[/name] was the main Vampire, a black-haired, green-eyed, incredibly sexy and uber-bad! I had the biggest crush on that character and swore my first son was going to be named [name]Aubrey[/name] [name]James[/name]! I loved [name]Alexander[/name] until I was seventeen when I met the brattiest six-year-old boy [name]EVER[/name] named [name]Alexander[/name]. It killed the name for me
I also around that time wanted to name my first daughter [name]Ivory[/name].
When I was fifteen I was in my first serious relationship (yes serious, it lasted 3 years and we were engaged for eight months) and we agreed that our children were going to be named:
[name]Aubrey[/name] [name]James[/name] “A.J.” (I insisted)
[name]Samus[/name] [name]Lynn[/name] “[name]Sammy[/name]” (for a girl, [name]Samus[/name] was his fave girls name and I compromised in exchange for [name]Aubrey[/name])
[name]Vaughn[/name] [name]Wyatt[/name]
and [name]Freja[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (pron. FRAY-uh)
Not bad for fifteen but my tastes have definitely settled since then. [name]Aubrey[/name] is still one of my “guilty pleasure” names for a boy!
