I’m thinking about the first name that I remember falling in love with, I was still in elementary school and we were doing silent reading in the library.
I wasn’t reading but all of a sudden I realized how cute [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] were that I wrote them down on a sticky note to keep. This was way before I realized I was a name nerd so it’s funny to think about for me and now wondering if any of you remember the first name you fell in love with
(I know [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] is kind of basic now since it’s very popular, still cute but nowhere near my favorite now)
mine was eleanor
it was my grandma’s mother’s name. she died of cancer three years after my grandma was born, at only 19. it’s a very important name to my grandmother, and i remember promising her at a young age that my daughter would be eleanor. it’s quite popular now, but i will always love this name!
Loretta was the first name I fell in love with when I heard country singer Loretta Lynn’s name mentioned
[name_m]Achille[/name_m] and [name_f]Angelica[/name_f]
Mine was [name_f]Silke[/name_f]!
mine was [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]!
there was a girl a year older than me at daycare who was always so sweet and kind to me (and at that age, anyone older giving me the time of day, I basically worshiped the ground she walked on). I named all my favorite toys [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], including the stuffed unicorn I got for my sister when she was born!
I still love [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] but I think [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] the unicorn is a one name figure in our family 🩵
[name_f]Silke[/name_f] is so beautiful
Wow, hard to pinpoint an exact name…
I think the first time I can think of was that I used to be obsessed with picking out the perfect name for my dolls ( I had a large collection on porcelain dolls when I was little.) [name_f]My[/name_f] very first ones I named [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Maryanne[/name_f], and my second ones were sisters [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I still love those names!
[name_f]Julia[/name_f], closely followed by [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is very popular here, [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] is not used - it sounded so exotic and beautiful to me when I first heard of it.
I first read [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables when I was about seven, and that’s when I fell for my first-ever name love: [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]. Next was The Chronicles of [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
Those were my first name loves, although it wasn’t until I met a girl named [name_u]Reeve[/name_u] in my teens that I began making name lists and playing around with combos.
I can’t remember when I got my first boy name crush, but I know it was [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. I also really liked [name_u]Harper[/name_u] for a boy around that same time.
The first name I actively remember falling in love with was [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]! I don’t remember how, but I was around 7, and I used the name for my favorite character in any of the stories I made up at the time. For several years I wanted a daughter named [name_f]Gwen[/name_f].
I still love the name, but unfortunately I now have a personal association that renders it unusable. I would love to see more baby Gwens though!!
[name_u]Salem[/name_u] <3
Unfortunately unusable because DH doesn’t like it but still special to me.
I don’t remember exactly which one was the first, but I was obsessed with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (Charlotta). I never used diminutives, though.
[name_f]My[/name_f] first name love that I have kept with me for nearly my entire life is the gorgeous yet grounded [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. I dreamed since I was a wee one of naming my future daughter [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] “Della, [name_f]Laidy[/name_f], Ladybug”. I unfortunately have no clear recollection of where I found her, but I have my suspicions, as I was an avid reader of books of all sorts, and perhaps I could have found it from Madame [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] from the Aristocats. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a shot in the dark, I truly have no idea, haha. But all I know is that once I saw her name, I was absolutely smitten with it and to this day it still is the only flawless name I have ever discovered. Unfortunately, she is unusable for me due to similarities to the name of someone else in my life, but I will love her still forevermore.
I am still heartbroken that she will never be the name of a child of mine, but these things happen.
The first name I remember falling in love with is [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. I had never heard of it at the time so it felt so new and fresh. I would name my favorite Bratz, my favorite [name_f]Barbie[/name_f], my favorite doll and my main characters [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and would always tell myself that I would have a daughter named [name_f]Emma[/name_f] one day. I loved it for sooooo long! I’ve never met an [name_f]Emma[/name_f] until I was 18 and even then it was only 1 [name_f]Emma[/name_f] so it never got boring or wasn’t a basic name for me. It has lost its spark for me since but I still hold a special place in my heart for this name
[name_f]Jessica[/name_f]! It feels a little dated to me now and is very different from my current style, but I remember naming my animal crossing character that and thinking it was the prettiest
Chantenay
It’s not even a name
You can blame Aldi for this, but younger me thought that they had hit the jackpot in beautiful names when the names of [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] the carrot’s children were announced (the other two are [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] & Baby).
When I discovered that it was a type of carrot I was highly disappointed
that’s really funny lol
I don’t even remember what name I fell in love with first! I’ve always found a special fascination with names that no one else I know has (except all you lovely Berries ofc). I’ll just list the first few I remember.
[name_f]Katie[/name_f] - I’m not sure why, but as a child I thought [name_f]Katie[/name_f] was the most beautiful name ever. I named all my stuffed animals, story characters, dolls, etc, this name. I still like it, but I’d only use it as a nickname for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Katerina[/name_f]. I’d definitely use [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Katie[/name_f] for a future daughter of mine.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - I was a avid reader as a kid, and I ADORED the Boxcar Children series. I read all the books up until #85, all the specials and spinoffs, and watched both movies in the theatre. The character [name_f]Violet[/name_f] made me fall in love with this name, so much so that I named my dog [name_f]Violet[/name_f] after her. That’s the only reason I wouldn’t name my daughter this. In fact, if I could use [name_f]Violet[/name_f], I would use the same combo as my dog, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] .
[name_f]Laura[/name_f] - I also LOVED the [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u] books. Like I was OBSESSED with them (I still own, like, the entire collection). It’s basically the same reason as [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. I named my favorite doll ever [name_f]Laura[/name_f] after her.
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f] - This one is actually really ridiculous, but when I was in 5-6th grade, the movie Frozen II came out. In the middle of the movie, [name_m]Olaf[/name_m] the snowman randomly says just pops up and says the name [name_f]Samantha[/name_f]. 10-year-old me found it so funny, and the name has forever been stuck in my head since.
Ha, I had a doll named [name_f]Laura[/name_f] too- after little [name_f]Laura[/name_f] from the House of the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u] books- they are the epitome of comfort reads for me, even now <3
