The first was easy....

To all,

I’m new to the forum and searching for names in general. My wife and I have one wonderful daughter, [name]Emma[/name], already and are expecting our second daughter this [name]January[/name]. With [name]Emma[/name] it was easy. We didn’t look up names or search for anything as it was just a name we liked from the start. We had a name picked out for sure if we were having a son, but when we found out we were being blessed with another little girl we were stumped. We did not want to use a boys name for our daughter or try to feminize the name to try and make it fit, but find a new name altogether.

My wife and I have come up with several names, and removed several names as we discussed it, but we still can’t nail any one name down or even down to a small selection of names.

My family is Dutch-Belgian (my father is 1st-generation American) so we wanted to be sure to look to those areas for some inspiration, but my wife doesn’t like most of the names of the women in my family ([name]Helene[/name], [name]Flor[/name], [name]Marie[/name], and [name]Leta[/name]).

We don’t really care if a name is considered trendy or popular and we despise names like [name]Makenzie[/name], [name]Addison[/name], etc. Also, we don’t look for nicknames and feel that if parents are going to give a child a name so they can use a nickname, just name the child the nickname in the first place.

Here’s what we have so far/ for now:

[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
(also a family name, and the only one my wife approved of)
[name]Gabriella[/name]
[name]Lara[/name]
[name]Lillianne[/name]
[name]Mina[/name]
[name]Abigail[/name]

Some Dutch names my wife found:
Adalind
[name]Adriana[/name]
Avelien
(I actually really like this one, but my wife isn’t sold on it yet even though she picked it)

I would appreciate some advice and suggestions though.

Thanks in advance!

I love [name]Claire[/name] and it is absolutely perfect with [name]Emma[/name]. I also really like [name]Abigail[/name]. Good luck!

I think [name]Claire[/name] is lovely, still has a family connection, and is a good sibset with [name]Emma[/name]. [name]Clara[/name] is similar to [name]Claire[/name] if you like that option.

I love [name]Emma[/name] & [name]Chloe[/name] together. Two names that are currently quite popular, but also very pretty classics.

I also really like [name]Mina[/name]. [name]Mina[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is a pretty combo.
[name]Chloe[/name] [name]Helene[/name] is gorgeous. I also like the combination of [name]Chloe[/name] Adalind.

Good luck!

[name]Claire[/name], [name]Abigail[/name], and [name]Chloe[/name] fit perfectly with [name]Emma[/name].

I also like [name]Emma[/name] & [name]Adriana[/name], but [name]Adriana[/name]'s a touch more exotic than [name]Emma[/name].
I think [name]Evelina[/name] would be pretty too, which is close to Avelien imo.

1 [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Claire[/name]
2 [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name]
3 [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Chloe[/name]

Have you considered the name [name]Saskia[/name] (she was the wife of the Dutch painter [name]Rembrandt[/name])?

I agree that [name]Claire[/name] is a gorgeous fit with [name]Emma[/name]. Based on your options, here are a few similar suggests:
[name]Leah[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Annabelle[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Annie[/name]
[name]Ava[/name]
[name]Evie[/name]
[name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Marie[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Lana[/name]
[name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]

I really liked [name]Saskia[/name], but my wife thought it was too “out there” for her tastes.

Thanks for the advice! We’re avoiding middle names as well I forgot to mention.

I really really like [name]Claire[/name], [name]Gabriella[/name] and Adalind.

I love [name]Claire[/name], and I think it is perfect with [name]Emma[/name]!

I actually know two sisters [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Abigail[/name]. I love [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Emma[/name] together too, and [name]Chloe[/name] also!

I think think [name]Emma[/name] & [name]Claire[/name], [name]Emma[/name] & [name]Chloe[/name], or [name]Emma[/name] & [name]Abigail[/name] would go great together.

Have you thought about [name]Aveline[/name] or [name]Adeline[/name] instead of, or as a combination of, Adalind and Avelien? They’re both pretty names and on point without being overly popular or trendy. I also like [name]Claire[/name] with [name]Emma[/name].

[name]Lara[/name] is lovely.

Other suggestions:

[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Bethany[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Felicity[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Heidi[/name]
[name]Holly[/name]
[name]Lauren[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Thalia[/name]
[name]Vivien[/name]

[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Lara[/name]
[name]Mina[/name]

would be my pick to go with [name]Emma[/name] in a sib-set. My favorite would be [name]Emma[/name] & [name]Claire[/name].

[name]Love[/name] [name]Claire[/name]!!! Especially with big sister [name]Emma[/name]. Good luck!

I like [name]Claire[/name], [name]Gabriella[/name], [name]Lara[/name], and [name]Abigail[/name]. I thinik [name]Lara[/name] is really cute with [name]Emma[/name].

I also like Avelien but i’m not 100% sure how to pronounce it.

I’ll agree with everyone that [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Emma[/name] are perfect together, I also really love the suggestion of [name]Alice[/name].

Like [name]Evelyn[/name], but with an “[name]Ah[/name]” at the beginning.
