Personally I really love Wallace, Ralph, Howard Glenn & Cecil
Honestly [name_m]Fred[/name_m] feels pretty “standard” to me, maybe because I’m used to seeing it as a nickname for [name_m]Freddie[/name_m] or [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]! [name_m]Ralph[/name_m] and [name_m]Billy[/name_m] also don’t feel dated to me at all – I think they’re viewed quite differently in the UK (where I spent a couple of years) compared to the US!
I also really like [name_m]Cecil[/name_m], and I think with the popularity of [name_m]Silas[/name_m] it fits right in, it has very similar sounds. [name_m]Milton[/name_m] could work well too, with the on-trend -ton ending. I’d also love for [name_m]Wallace[/name_m] to make a comeback – [name_m]Wally[/name_m] is the cutest nickname! I quite like [name_m]Ernest[/name_m], [name_m]Bernard[/name_m], [name_m]Clifford[/name_m], [name_m]Chester[/name_m] and [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] too, although I don’t think any of them are coming back that soon.
I don’t see [name_m]Willard[/name_m], [name_m]Elmer[/name_m], [name_m]Lester[/name_m] or [name_m]Willie[/name_m] making a comeback, but I wouldn’t be shocked by any of the others!
[name_m]Billy[/name_m] is my favorite from this list! I think most [name_m]Williams[/name_m] are [name_m]Will[/name_m] or [name_m]Liam[/name_m] these days, but I do know at least one younger [name_m]Billy[/name_m] and would love to meet more I also think [name_m]Willie[/name_m] is still used as a nickname sometimes, especially for really little [name_m]Williams[/name_m] before they “graduate” to being called [name_m]Will[/name_m], but I don’t expect it to come back as a given name.
I also think [name_m]Ralph[/name_m] is really cute! And I’m neutral on [name_m]Howard[/name_m] but I do adore [name_m]Howie[/name_m], so I’d like to see it make a comeback for that reason. [name_m]Clarence[/name_m], [name_m]Ernest[/name_m], [name_m]Norman[/name_m], [name_m]Dale[/name_m], [name_m]Cecil[/name_m], and [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] are the others that I could see coming back.
[name_m]Wallace[/name_m] is one of my favorite boys names!
[name_m]Cecil[/name_m], [name_m]Elmer[/name_m], and [name_m]Clifford[/name_m] are also really cute and I could see fitting in with current boys name trends. Names like [name_m]Milton[/name_m], [name_m]Arnold[/name_m], [name_m]Chester[/name_m], and [name_m]Ralph[/name_m] feel like they could hit the “so out there in” wave. I also really love [name_m]Howard[/name_m] nn [name_m]Howie[/name_m], [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] nn [name_m]Bernie[/name_m], and [name_m]Ernest[/name_m].
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] and its variants are quite popular, so I wouldn’t consider [name_m]Fred[/name_m] a forgotten name.
