The French Laure

I am wondering what do you think of the [name_m]French[/name_m] name [name_f]Laure[/name_f]. I pronounce [name_f]Laure[/name_f] as [name_f]Lore[/name_f]. Is this the right pronunciation? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Laure[/name_f] is usable in the UK or is [name_f]Laura[/name_f] better?

Not sure if it’s pronounced like [name_f]Lore[/name_f], though I’d assume that was the case on a UK baby.
I like it much more than [name_f]Laura[/name_f]! While [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is lovely, it still hasn’t left the “mom name” territory. I’d assume a [name_f]Laura[/name_f] was in her 40s.
Have you considered [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]?

[name_f]Laure[/name_f] is pronounced something like Lor. I don’t really think this name is that usable outside Francophone countries. I think [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is better (or one of the alternatives mentioned) and I like this name although I agree it can feel a bit dated. Nonetheless, I think this name is very classy and will ‘never’ really go out of style.

I like it! It feels simple, fresh and sophisticated to me.

That said, I also think [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is a nice name and I don’t find it all that dated. I know Lauras ranging in age from 50 to about 10 so I wouldn’t be surprised to hear it on any age, really. [name_f]Laure[/name_f] is rather more exotic and intriguing to English ears, though.

To me, [name_f]Laure[/name_f] looks like someone was spelling [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and just forgot the “n” at the end. I would initially pronounce it as “lawr”. Personally, I don’t love it but I think it could work in the UK. I do like [name_f]Laura[/name_f] better though.
