The Glorious Galahad Conundrum

I’m 37 weeks, and we still haven’t found the perfect combo for our top contender, so I really could use some help!

Galahad is a very pure, almost saintly name to me, so when I think of him, I picture clear forest streams, smooth river stones, small rural chapels, silver armor, little birds singing…However, I have difficulty in finding names that fit this imagery. Here are some I sort of like with Galahad:
[name_m]Lysander[/name_m] & [name_m]Leander[/name_m]
[name_m]Valor[/name_m]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m]
[name_m]Melchior[/name_m]
Elsinore (it’s technically unisex, right?)
[name_m]Horatio[/name_m] (I love it but only as a second middle)
[name_m]Raphael[/name_m]

So yes, that’s about it. Galahad [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m] used to be my favorite but I’m not in love with it anymore. I would like some fresh ideas - we’re mostly looking at saint names this time but we’re open to anything. I’m really counting on you to help!

Galahad [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] [name_m]Horatio[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Leander[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] [name_m]Rufus[/name_m]

Galahad [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m], perhaps? [name_m]Cyprian[/name_m] is the name of a Catholic saint, as well as several others. It also reminds me of cypress, the symbol of meaningful quiet in literature and religious texts. Galahad [name_m]Valor[/name_m] [name_m]Cathal[/name_m] is another that I quite like, although it might be a little “A” heavy. Of your beautiful ideas, I would just adore Galahad Melchoir, maybe even Galahad Melchoir [name_m]Saint[/name_m]. I would also suggest researching the symbols of the saints in artwork, as maybe something along those lines could suit your fancy. Winged animals are very important in religious works, so maybe [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] could be an idea for a middle name, like Galahad [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. Galahad Mathiam [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is another suggestion. Mathiam is relevant to the story of [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m], and roses commonly appear in visual representations of the saints. I don’t know how you feel about [name_f]Rose[/name_f] on a boy, but I think that nature names are fair game for either sex. Thorns, doves, and ravens are other symbols that are commonly used in artwork featuring saints, so [name_f]Briar[/name_f] might be another option. Galahad [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] [name_f]Briar[/name_f] might almost hits the same chord as Galahad [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m].

Mostly from your list with a few extras:
Galahad [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Leander[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] (or Galahad [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] [name_m]Lysander[/name_m])
Galahad [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] [name_m]Melchior[/name_m]
Galahad Elsinore [name_m]Kitt[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] Hyperion

Saintly names:
Galahad [name_m]Crispin[/name_m] [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Alban[/name_m] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Finbar[/name_m] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
Galahad [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] [name_m]Simon[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] [name_m]Clement[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Crispin[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]

I really like @tranquilstars’ suggestions of [name_f]Briar[/name_f] and [name_m]Saint[/name_m], they seem to be perfect with Galahad! [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] mean “pure”, so maybe [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] or [name_u]Cato[/name_u] (I know it’s a name on its own but it is somewhat similar to [name_f]Catherine[/name_f])?

As for saint names, @mischa posted a series of wonderful threads dedicated to them a few years ago, here are the links: part one - part two - part three - part four.

My favorite suggestion so far is gia.berry’s combo of Galahad [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m]! Saintly, ethereal, dashing.

And I love moonstone’s suggestion of [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m]!

Galahad [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] [name_m]Horatio[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] Libertine
Galahad [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] D’artangnan
Galahad [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] [name_m]Othello[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] [name_f]Eudore[/name_f]
Galahad [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] [name_m]Heriot[/name_m]

Some other ideas:
Galahad [name_m]Luther[/name_m] Hawkwind
Galahad [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] [name_u]Lorne[/name_u]
Galahad Meriwether [name_m]Vail[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Dolan[/name_m] [name_m]Vail[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Dolan[/name_m] Elsinore
Galahad [name_m]Desiderio[/name_m] Elsinore
Galahad [name_m]Melchior[/name_m] [name_m]Heracles[/name_m]
Galahad Daedelus [name_m]Valor[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Riordan[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m]
Galahad Fawkes [name_m]Valor[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] [name_m]Hermes[/name_m]

Galahad [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Leander[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m]

Galahad [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] [name_m]Lothario[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Viridian[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]

I’m so excited to find out what name you eventually choose!

Some ideas:
Galahad [name_m]Percival[/name_m] [name_m]Horatio[/name_m]
Galahad Letholdus [name_m]Valor[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] [name_m]Lancelot[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] Elsinore
Galahad [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Tybalt[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] [name_m]Baudwin[/name_m]

Aww thank you so much, guys! You’ve been so helpful during this journey, I really appreciate that! I even teared up a little - I’m super emotional these days…

sorceress; I really like [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] with [name_m]Horatio[/name_m], they go so well together!

tranquilstars; You’re the sweetest thing, always being so nice and giving me food for thought! The suggestion of [name_m]Saint[/name_m] is spot on - it sounds exactly like something my husband would like, so I’m going to run it by him ASAP. Galahad [name_m]Melchior[/name_m] [name_m]Saint[/name_m] is pure perfection, but do you think is Galahad [name_m]Saint[/name_m] is just too much? We’re really flamboyant, over the top people, though. I’m definitely not against [name_f]Rose[/name_f] on a boy, so we might consider [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as well as Rosemint, [name_u]Penrose[/name_u], [name_f]Briar[/name_f], [name_u]Rosario[/name_u] - it’s a great idea, I’m absolutely loving the imagery. Galahad is silvery and green, and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is bright red - so beautiful!

gis.berry; Galahad [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] has the bestest flow! I’m also happy to see you’re not against Elsinore on a boy. From your suggestions I’m loving [name_m]Crispin[/name_m], [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] (he’s one of my husband’s favorites - I’m married to a nut), [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Valentine[/name_u], [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m], [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] and [name_m]Casimir[/name_m], though [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] and [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] seem to be more [name_m]Lancelot[/name_m]-ish to me. Now I just need to make [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] work…

moonstone; Thanks, I’m going to go through these lists and show them to my husband in hopes of gleaning a winner for the middle name slot…I really need some shorter names! I’m afraid [name_u]Cato[/name_u] isn’t my cup of tea, but [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] is lovely. I might try to pair him with [name_m]Endymion[/name_m] since [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] is often associated with [name_m]Apollo[/name_m].

brittanyanitarose; Oh I just wish I could love [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]! I agree Galahad [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m] is super handsome, but [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] is one of these names I love for somebody else’s child, not my own haha!
[name_m]Desiderio[/name_m] is so so cool - I was thinking about Desideria just today but I did not know she had a masculine form! Galahad [name_m]Desiderio[/name_m] Elsinore flows so well, too. [name_m]Heriot[/name_m] is also super intriguing, and I love Galahad [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] [name_m]Hermes[/name_m].

renee seance; Galahad [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m] is smashing! I love the idea of [name_m]Lothario[/name_m], but he doesn’t work with our last name at all (and, to be perfectly honest, [name_m]Lothario[/name_m] would better suit my husband than my son, if you know what I mean…). I’m actually excited to see our final name, too, right now I have no idea…

ceruleanstardust; [name_u]Love[/name_u] love love [name_m]Cedric[/name_m]!

What would I do without you? So many great ideas…I’ll leave this thread up for a couple of days more, and then I might make a poll to see everyone’s favorite combos. Thanks again!

Galahad [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] is darling!

Galahad is going to be tough enough to wear. Definitely would not put a [name_f]Magi[/name_f] and a religious title in the same name. Galahad Raphael {second middle of your choice} gives the guy at least one name to fall back on in case he doesn’t take to prancing round on horseback and performing heroic deeds.

Galahad [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] [name_m]Hugh[/name_m]
Galahad [name_m]Horatio[/name_m] [name_m]Bede[/name_m]

Galahad is very unique and handsome, I would pair it with something a little familiar in the middle spots.

[name_f]Imo[/name_f] [name_m]Valor[/name_m] mixed in with Galahad is just too much. Too themey and overstated. I would pair it with a more recognizable non-knight related name. I liked the suggestion of [name_m]Edmund[/name_m].
