In my head her name is [name]Madeleine[/name] [name]Heloise[/name] or [name]Lou[/name] [name]Fran[/name]çoise (after [name]Fran[/name]çoise [name]Hardy[/name], naturally).
I’ve posted this before on a French name discussion on the forum…I really love, Benjameine It is pronounced: [name]Ben[/name] zha meen. The nn [name]Benjie[/name] is so cute.
French names I like, many of which are doubtlessly très unfashionable:
[name]Zephirine[/name] <–asked a French girl, she assures me this is a little old lady name, but hey, I like old lady names in English too! There’s a hybrid rose I especially like called Zephirine Drouhin.
Claire
Marie-Soleil <–Marie hyphenated names in general are old-fashioned, but I like them. I like Marie itself, its out of style though.
Delphine
Emmanuelle
Esmé, Esmée
Celeste, Celestine
Marguerite <–name of a dear friend. Absolutely gorgeous. I prefer Marguerite to Margot because I like daisies but find the name Daisy to lack substance.
Vivienne <-- I maybe prefer Vivien slightly, if not worried about French authenticity, as I like the streamlined quality and Old Hollywood feel, but Vivienne is gorgeous itself.
This is an interesting spelling for [name]Benjamin[/name]! I’ve never heard it before and can’t find any INSEE (similar to SSI in [name]France[/name]) info on it, the “eine” ending makes me think it sounds more like “ehn” (like the word “pleine” or the name Madeleine). I’m hoping a French [name]Berry[/name] can offer some more insight into this name but I’m definitely going to do some sleuthing! BTW [name]Benjamin[/name]/[name]Benjamine[/name] is also used to say someone is the youngest son or daugher in French
@stripedsocks, I love so many of those names because I also like unfashionable French old lady names!
[name]Vivienne[/name]

[name]Amelie[/name]
Magalie
[name]Maelle[/name]
the only French names i know are [name]Fleur[/name] and [name]Gabrielle[/name]
I met a french family in Indonesia. They had a beautiful little girl called Juilla. Pronounced jewell-la xx
I remember seeing a French film 25 years ago with English subtitles. It was called “Ponette.” It was about a little sweet imp of a girl named Ponette who has lost her mother and went to live with her uncle’s family and her struggles to come to grips with the loss of her mother and how to fit in with this new family. I always loved that name ever since. The child actress was this doe-eyed, wispy blond waif…beautiful and mysterious. I never forgot it. Ponni would be a cute nn.
