The middle name Jay

So, as you can see in my signature, my top contender for a boy is [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u]. I will admit that my love for the name [name_u]Jay[/name_u] does come from a certain TV show but as soon as I heard it, i loved it. I was looking for a while for a middle name for [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] that was not [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Henry[/name_m], as soon as i put both the names together, I fell in love.

However, [name_u]Jay[/name_u] just so happens to be my brother in laws brothers name. I mean him and his brother get along (I think), theyre as close as they can be considering they live quite far away from eachother. Their childhood was pretty messed up, my [name_m]BIL[/name_m] lived with his dad and his bro and sis lived with his mum.

His mum is whats the problem. Nobody really gets on with her. Would I still be able to use [name_u]Jay[/name_u] with out it being weird? Also for those of you that know that my niece is called [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], yes i would still use [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u]. My sister knows this, i have loved [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] forever and before [name_f]Livvy[/name_f] was born.

Thanks!

I think you could use [name_u]Jay[/name_u] without it being weird. Especially as a middle name and given that there is a fair amount of familial distance between you and you co-brother-in-law’s name (I recently found out that ‘co-sibling’-in-law is the term for your [name_m]BIL[/name_m]/[name_m]SIL[/name_m]'s siblings to you) and since no one really likes his mum that much I wouldn’t be concerned about it, they’ll know you’re not doing it for any link to her.
I also love the name [name_u]Jay[/name_u]!
I think the bigger issue is [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Jay[/name_u] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], but presumably [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] will be a fair amount older by the time you’d be having a son so it’s not a massive deal.

I agree with Maerad. That’s not so close it’s a bad idea. Especially as a middle.

I think it’s fine! It’s also not a incredibly unusual name so there’s a little less connection… [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] jay is beautiful

Thanks guys!
