The name Amity

We had previously discounted this name but I came across the name [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] the other day, which I loved but felt it was more of a nickname and all the long versions weren’t really my style. Then it struck me that [name_f]Amity[/name_f] has a similar sound, so I am thinking of putting it back on the shortlist

What are your thoughts on this name and would the Jaws film connection put you off? Thanks!

Other top two names are:
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]

Would either of these middles go with [name_f]Amity[/name_f]?

I know and love an [name_f]Amity[/name_f] - it’s a name that gets prettier the more you hear it and because of the meaning, people are naturally open to a person called [name_f]Amity[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] goes better as [name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] sounds a bit boot-slapping to me (and I appreciate I might have the wrong association). Besides [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], I like [name_f]Amity[/name_f] with names like [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Christine[/name_f]…

[name_f]Amity[/name_f] is gorgeous! I never would have thought of Jaws. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], really wonderful. [name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is very nice too.

[name_f]Amity[/name_f] is pretty! I think I’ve heard of the name in somewhere of [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]'s novel (not sure about the book name). [name_f]Amity[/name_f] in the book wasn’t a good character imo, but the name has stuck to me ever since! I love [name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] (though [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is nice too).

[name_f]Amity[/name_f] is gorgeous! I know one and her parents, still in high school when she was born, actually named her after the Amityville Horror thing. So that is my first association. Neither Amityville or Jaws would render the name unusable, in my opinion. It was a pleasant meaning, beautiful sound, and those movies are pretty old anyway.

I love [name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. [name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] does work, too.

I love [name_f]Amity[/name_f], I’ve never seen Jaws so I’ve never had that association.

[name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a lovely combo

Thanks for the replies, I am loving the name more and more so it’s definitely a top contender now ”

[name_f]Amity[/name_f] is nice, but I love [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] too. You can’t go wrong!

I think of Amityville Horror, not Jaws. What about [name_f]Verity[/name_f]?

I think [name_f]Amity[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is lovely!
Also I think [name_f]Amy[/name_f] is good nn for [name_f]Amity[/name_f]

[name_f]Amity[/name_f] is darling. She is one of my favorite virtue names
