I love the idea of a baby gril named Britan [name]Jane[/name]. I want to honor my mother some how in the name. She always said if she had one more daughter she would have named her brittney…which I don’t care for…but Britan is very similar. Also her name was [name]Leigh[/name]-[name]Ann[/name] so im bringing over the ann sound. I also lived in [name]London[/name] for a while when I was in college so it just fits! thoughts? Does is sound too masculine? Too not-a-name-ish? Spelling?
I love that [name]Brit[/name] sound in [name]Brittany[/name], so I understand the appeal of Britan (and why you don’t care for [name]Brittany[/name]).
I normally don’t like made-up names, but this one I really like. I think it has a slight masculine edge, but is not too masculine for a girl. I would spell it [name]Brittan[/name], but of course it’s up to you. For a boy I would spell it [name]Britton[/name], so maybe that’s why I think the double t’s seem “right.”
Britan [name]Jane[/name] is adorable.
I love it! [name]Jane[/name] sounds great with it. If people can do [name]Brooklyn[/name], [name]Paris[/name], [name]London[/name], [name]Jackson[/name] etc then Britan is a nice, fresh one! Great name!
Shouldn’t it be spelled [name]Britain[/name]? or are you not using it for Great [name]Britain[/name] as well for the [name]London[/name] connection?
[name]IMO[/name] [name]Britain[/name] isn’t my favorite place name but it could work, however Britan looks misspelled to me. Depending on your last name I do like it paired with [name]Jane[/name].
[name]IMO[/name] it seems to be a boy’s name. I do, however, like it. I agree that it should be spelled [name]Britain[/name]. I understand that you are trying to connect it to your mother’s ann, but the sound alone works well enough to establish a connection.
I quite like it! I agree with r_j, I like it spelled [name]Brittan[/name] too… What do you think of [name]Britta[/name]? It’s a bit more feminine than [name]Brittan[/name], although I think [name]Brittan[/name] totally works for a girl!
EDIT: I might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure Brittan is a ‘real’ name… and a unisex one at that… So I think it definitely works on a girl, and no need to spell it Britain unless that’s what you prefer!
It looks like you just made it up because of the misspelling of “[name]Britain[/name]”. It becomes confusing regarding what you are trying to honor.
It’s cute, but only when spelled [name]Britain[/name]. Otherwise, gorgeous! Very fresh.
[name]Britain[/name] [name]Jane[/name] isn’t my style, but I see the appeal, very sweet.
Britan strikes me as a misspelling or I’d try to pronounce it like [name]Brighton[/name].
well if it was spelled correctly [name]Britain[/name] I like it for a boy.
What abot [name]Britannia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]?
