The Name Came to Me in a Dream

I’m not expecting or trying, but last night I had a dream I had a baby girl, called [name_f]Erica[/name_f]. I’ve never dreamt so vividly about having a baby that it gets as far as them having a name (although one time years ago I dreamt I had a baby called “[name_m]Elvis[/name_m] [name_u]Presley[/name_u]” because that was the name “that came with the baby” and I couldn’t think of anything else).
Anyway, it was quite a sad dream because little [name_f]Erica[/name_f] kept growing up every time I saw her, by the end of the dream she was older than I am.

I love the name [name_f]Erica[/name_f]. It’s well known but low popularity now, strong but feminine. I think it is beautiful. Anyway, I just wanted to see what people thought of it, and if they’d ever had names come to them in dreams before. (:

[name_f]Erica[/name_f] isn’t my style, but I think it’s quite nice, and it makes me think of the tv show FRIENDS; [name_f]Monica[/name_f] and [name_u]Chandler[/name_u] named one of their twins [name_f]Erica[/name_f]

I’ve had dreams about having a baby before, and every single time, the baby (or toddler), has gorgeous blonde ringlets and is named [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. Which I always think is rather bizarre, because although I love the name, [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] isn’t my number one girl’s name, and also, my DH and I both have rather dark straight hair, so the chances of me having a curly blonde are slim!

It’s not one of my favs, but I don’t dislike it.

I love [name_f]Erica[/name_f]! I know the nicest, most awesome girl called [name_f]Erica[/name_f]. She’s two years below me, and in my recorder group. I wouldn’t use it now, because I’m always a bit iffy about using the names of people I know quite well (unless it’s family), but it’s a great name.

I think that names that come to you in dreams are the best ones! But we also might feel more attached to them because they were in a dream.

[name_f]Erica[/name_f] is NMS. But it is still a fine name!

I actually really love [name_f]Erica[/name_f]. It’s so pretty! I wouldn’t use it myself (my hubby hates it and it sounds awful with our surname) but I would love to meet a little girl called [name_f]Erica[/name_f]!

I’ve never had a name dream before but I think it would be interesting to have one and see what names pop up!

[name_f]My[/name_f] baby dreams always cut off before I get to hear their names. Its quite frustrating!

I love dream names. I think you should always write them down to remember.

I like [name_f]Erica[/name_f] a lot! I always thought it was a strong name.

[name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother is named [name_f]Ericka[/name_f], so it has been in the back of my mind as an honouring name for most of my life.
I don’t love [name_f]Ericka[/name_f] myself, but I’m obviously very partial to it. It has served her very well  she was born in [name_f]Austria[/name_f] in 1926 so I don’t think of it so much as a 70s/80s name.

I like [name_f]Erica[/name_f]. And I am so envious of your dream! I’d love to have one of those.

For the person who said the little curly haired blondie [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] couldn’t be your daughter - DH and I are dark brunettes w hazel eyes. DD was born w black hair that has turned golden blonde in the last 15mos and her eyes are blue (both of her grandfathers have blue eyes so she won the genetic lottery  Right now beyond her nose and chin she looks adopted  So that could be your little girl!

I love that you love [name_f]Erica[/name_f]. However, since you asked…I really dislike it. To me, [name_f]Erica[/name_f] is in the same category as [name_f]Danielle[/name_f]: a name that’s doubly dated by the datedness of the masculine form. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] or [name_f]Irina[/name_f]?

Pretty much exactly this. So sweet that you found the dream to be so meaningful, but [name_f]Erica[/name_f] feels uncomfortably dated to me. Could you picture a baby boy born today named [name_m]Eric[/name_m]? They’re both names that are much more likely to be the mothers and fathers of kids today, rather than the kids.

[name_f]Erica[/name_f]'s a great name!

Oh its very possible! I’m learning about genetic heredity now and if both of you have the recessive blonde hair gene (and the dominant dark haired gene), there’s a 1/4 chance of getting a blonde-haired child

I like [name_f]Erica[/name_f] but don’t love it! One of my closest friends is an [name_f]Erica[/name_f]

I had a dream once where I had twins and named them [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] constant eyeroll I was honestly mad when I woke up lol
And then another dream I had I named my baby [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (-:
I have so many dreams about having babies it’s weird like I’m only 16 hahahah but those are the only names I remember

Haha, that would be spooky. I don’t know if we have the blonde hair gene, but my brother-in-law is blonde, where as my brother, grandmother and uncle all have red hair. So I guess it’ll be interesting to see!

I like [name_f]Erica[/name_f]. Its my older cousin in Germany’s name. It doesn’t feel too dated to me since it was the name of the [name_f]Barbie[/name_f] princess in The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and The Pauper (the other’s name was [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f].) I like its a lovely choice!

I’ve always loved [name_f]Erica[/name_f]! It was one of my favorites for a long time, but my boyfriend vetoed it because he knew a nasty girl named [name_f]Erica[/name_f]. I still think it’s a great name!

Once, I dreamt that I had a son named [name_u]Quincy[/name_u], which was odd. I didn’t hate the name or anything, but it wasn’t ever one that I’d thought about before, you know? Anyway, it grew on me because of the dream, and I actually quite like it now

[name_f]Erica[/name_f] isn’t a bad name, but along with [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f], and [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], it seems slightly outdated, but not outdated enough to be “hip”.
