What is your opinion on [name_f]Coral[/name_f]? I’m really smitten with it right now and am strangely drawn to jewel and nature names. Some middle names I’ve been throwing around are [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] (my favorite - I love alliteration). Nicknames would quite possibly be [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] and/or [name_f]Cora[/name_f].
I adore [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], too.
[name_f]Coral[/name_f] is a name I’ve never heard before and it immediately strikes me as a sweet Victorian name. The only fault I can find with [name_f]Coral[/name_f] is its similarity to [name_f]Carol[/name_f].
I really like [name_f]Coral[/name_f], but I also like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]. As mentioned before, a lot of people might misread it as [name_f]Carol[/name_f] at first, but it just depends whether that would bother you. It’s come up on other threads that any name with “oral” in it lends itself to the sort of crass jokes that adolescents are known for, but that’s a pretty short phase in someone’s whole life.
I really like [name_f]Coral[/name_f]. Although it’s very similar to [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and everything related, I think it has a completely different feel. It’s very down to earth, subtly beautiful and doesn’t feel popular or trendy (to me, a good thing!). There’s also the added benefit of the gorgeous color called coral, which only adds more picturesque beauty when the name is said. I wouldn’t worry about it being misread as [name_f]Carol[/name_f] or the “oral” part of it, neither of those crossed my mind.
Thank you berries for your answers! It really hadn’t occurred to me that [name_f]Coral[/name_f] and [name_f]Carol[/name_f] were similar. In a way I think that’s good, because it makes the name more down to earth and recognizable… And still unique. I think that’s a good thing in names.
I would appreciate opinions on [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] just a little bit more than [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], but they’re both lovely.
Both [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] are lovely names, but I just fell head over heels in love with [name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]. [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is a name I’ve always loved, and it goes perfectly as a middle name with [name_f]Coral[/name_f].
I like the name [name_f]Coral[/name_f] in theory…the way it looks and the color/nature side of it. But the one girl I know named [name_f]Coral[/name_f] says she hates it because it often sounds like “[name_m]Carl[/name_m]” when people say it quickly.
That said, I think the name [name_f]Cora[/name_f] on its own would be really pretty with [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]!
[name_f]Coral[/name_f] is lovely and old-fashioned!
[name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is a lovely name.
[name_f]Coral[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] sounds like an adjective then a noun because [name_f]Coral[/name_f] the name is also coral the color.
Like [name_u]Green[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_u]Stacy[/name_u].
I prefer it with [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f].
Coral Catherine sounds like an adjective then a noun because Coral the name is also coral the color.
This is always going to be true of names that are also colors, regardless of the middle name. But it’s not noticeable the way it would be with names like [name_u]Blue[/name_u] or [name_u]Grey[/name_u], or even [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], since coral has other meanings.
Thank you for all the help, berries! I have started a new thread on the “[name_u]Baby[/name_u] Names” section with more general questions and seeking advice on names for my twins. I would really appreciate it if you guys could go on there and vote on the poll.
I dislike [name_f]Coral[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Corinne[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] goes well together.
