I voted for Mayna. I feel as though it is the most straightforward. Mayna [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is lovely.
I voted for Meina because of your reasoning and I think it looks most elegant.
Meyna would be my second choice!
Mayna - this one is the most intuitive - most people would tend to pronounce this “correctly”
Meina - [name]Will[/name] likely be mispronounced as Mee-nah or Meye-nah
Maynah - For some reason the H at the end makes me think of mynah, like the bird
Maena - likely to be mispronounced BUT looks so pretty! I love this spelling but it may not be practical
Meyna - 2nd most intuitive but I still prefer Maena or Mayna
I picked Meana, but I also like Meina.
Thanks for the replies everyone! Looks like Mayna is taking a pretty commanding lead in this poll. That’s the one we’ve been leaning towards, seems to be the most intuitive pronunciation and the most widely used. I like the idea of using Maena (probably my second favorite spelling at the moment), but Mayna does still seem the most likely choice for us at the moment.
[name]Do[/name] you have any intentions of using [name]May[/name]/ [name]Mae[/name] as a nn?
I voted Mayna.
Mayna and Meina both seem like logical choices to me. I voted for Meina because it looks prettier to me.
I feel like Mayna would be your best bet!! :).
What a lovely name! I think Mayna is the way to go. It seems to be the legitimate spelling, plus, I find it the most intuitive.
I like the look of Mayna best. I like how it they “y” breaks the straight line of the four names together.
I voted for Mayna. It gets you directly to the pronunciation you want and looks the cleanest to me.
Pretty name! w/ a lot of great thought put into it.
I think Mayna, Meina, and Maena are the best, just based on how they appear spelling-wise/written down
I personally would pick Meina. But any of those three would work quite nicely.
Thanks for the further replies! We have been leaning towards Mayna, so it’s nice to see that so many people prefer it that way as well. Meina has been another strong possibility, but I’m thinking their might be some pronunciation issues occasionally that we could avoid with using Mayna.
Maynah and Meyna are pretty much out of the running now.
@emilia- It’s possible [name]May[/name]/[name]Mae[/name] could get adopted as a NN, but I have it feeling it probably won’t happen. I find that, in general, when names are just two syllables long, I pretty rarely use NN’s. But it’s certainly a possibility that it’s adopted as her NN elsewhere. I definitely prefer Mayna/Meina/Maena to [name]May[/name]/[name]Mae[/name] though.
I chose Mayna. [name]Just[/name] wanted to comment because I finally can after two days of difficulties on nameberry!
We’ve confirmed… Mayna will be the spelling.
However, after a couple of months being sure [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would be the double middle name, we’ve suddenly and unexpectedly changed our mind. We’re thinking we’ll go with [name]Rosalie[/name] ([name]Rose[/name] and [name]Lee[/name] both being important family names) in the middle instead I think.
[name]Do[/name] you prefer
Mayna [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Luckie[/name]
OR
Mayna [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Luckie[/name]
?
I like Mayna [name]Rosalie[/name] the best. When I say Mayna [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Luckie[/name] I draw the two middles together and it sounds like hazelrose. Which is pretty, but I prefer [name]Rosalie[/name]. And I’m glad you chose Mayna, I only saw this thread right now. Beautiful name.
Mayna [name]Rosalie[/name]. I like the 2-3-2 flow of this with your surname. Mayna [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Luckie[/name] seems a little choppy (but still beautiful).
I like both. A LOT.
I think I’d go with Mayna [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Luckie[/name] because you choose those mn’s months ago and you still like them.
If you are in a 1 mn camp than [name]Rosalie[/name] is more stream lined but I like 2 mn’s. and [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is more unique/individual.
I voted for Maena, but I do love Mayna [name]Rosalie[/name]. I dont mind 2 middle names, but Mayna [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] [name]Luckie[/name] sounds too choppy to me.
