The name Johanna (pron. Jo-hanna)?

I’ve always thought it was beautiful but many react negatively towards it - that it’s too boring or too 80’s/90’s…

I guess if you see most of my favorites, it doesn’t really “fit.” I had [name]Johanna[/name] pinned as a middle name possibility since it honors my mother-in-law (middle name is [name]Jo[/name]) and my paternal grandmother (first name is [name]Anna[/name]), but I’m starting to really love it as a first name.

What do you think? Too boring? Too dated? Does it work with sister [name]Nora[/name]?

I think it is a beautiful name that is different enough to really stand out. I don’t think of it as a particularly dated name, though I could see [name]Joanna[/name] that way. To me, [name]Johanna[/name] has a classic Scandinavian feel. I think it makes a great sister for [name]Nora[/name].

I really hate this name. But if you love the name is perfect, is you little girl. I call my baby girl [name]January[/name] and my family don’t like are all. So is your choise.

[name]January[/name] [name]Anais[/name] [name]Rose[/name]'s Mom♥

I think it’s nice! And if you really love it, you should use! I’m not the biggest fan of the -a endings on both girls’ names though.

[name]Johanna[/name] is a lovely classic name. While I can see [name]Joanna[/name] being a bit dated I think [name]Johanna[/name] maintains and air of mystique that make it more current. I also love how the name honors two family members in a way that works without seeming pieced together. I think [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name] is an adorable sibset, both are classic interesting names that are a bit off the beaten path, just lovely!

I love the name! It’s so cute and a great alternative to [name]Joanna[/name] (Although I love that name too).

I really like it and find it to be quite classic, but I am in the minority who finds a lot of those 80/90s names to be classic. I mean, [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Amy[/name], [name]Jessica[/name], [name]Jennifer[/name], [name]Rachel[/name] & [name]Rebecca[/name] are all nice classics. I don’t associate [name]Johanna[/name] to that time period nearly as much, even though I’ve known a few my age.

I love [name]Johanna[/name] and it pairs beautifully with [name]Nora[/name]. [name]Johanna[/name] has a European feel, just enough medieval to suit me.

I think [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name] are great together. [name]Joanna[/name] is a little dated to me, but not [name]Johanna[/name].

[name]Do[/name] you mean pronounce the H? Its kind of annoying when you don’t pronounce it and people say “its [name]JoHanna[/name]” but I bet its really annoying for the person who is named [name]Johanna[/name].

I love [name]Johanna[/name]! I think [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Johanna[/name] are lovely, and [name]Johanna[/name] has a lot of lovely nns. I think it’s fab.

I like [name]Johanna[/name] a lot, but my main deterrent from using it was the pronunciation confusion that I feel is pretty inevitable. As someone with a name that is constantly mispronounced it’s a deal breaker for me.
