The name Love

What do you think of the name [name_u]Love[/name_u] for a girl?

Love is pretty! I love the sound and meaning but personally I think it is better as a middle name. I think it just might get confusing with how often the word love is used in everyday speech.

I think it makes a sweet middle name!

I worry it sounds a little wordy and almost nickname-y as a first name, because sometimes people refer to their significant others as ā€˜loveā€™ as a pet name, so it feels odd for a formal name. I also think of the character from You, despite having not seen the show.

I love ā€œloveā€ names like [name_u]Loveday[/name_u] and Lovejoy, and I have met a little girl called [name_u]Love[/name_u]! It feels really wearable and sentimental! The reigning association in my brain, though, is the You character. I donā€™t know how long the popularity of the show will last, but it is there.

I think it would make a wonderful middle name! I find it a little harder to picture as a first name, I think because of what @EagleEyes mentioned about it being used as a common pet name.

I agree with the other previous posters who said that it would often be confused with with the pet name Love many people use today. I think it would make a sweet middle, like @SparkleNinja18 has said. On the other hand, maybe using an international name meaning love (such as [name_f]Kerensa[/name_f]) would work as a first name.

Love is pretty and I think it would make a lovely middle

Itā€™s lovely  Probably better as a middle though, since it may sound like a term of endearment rather than name

Great middle name. Would suggest something else as a first name. Lovenia or [name_f]Amora[/name_f] (spanish) or Lieben (german)

I really like it, particularly after watching You series.

I think it actually could make a great first name for the right set of parentsā€¦ If [name_f]Hope[/name_f] and [name_f]Faith[/name_f] are names [name_u]Love[/name_u] can be too! After all, the greatest of these is love. It might not be the ā€œbestā€ choice for a few reasons but I can totally see it. Definitely would pair it with a more traditional middle name though.

I actually love the name [name_u]Loveday[/name_u] :two_hearts: I also think [name_u]Love[/name_u] would work well as a nickname.

I agree that it would be a sweet middle name but itā€™s used too often day-to-day for me to want it to be a first name.

My husbandā€™s cousin named her oldest [name_u]Love[/name_u]. She wears it well, but it has always seemed a bit odd or on the nose as a first name. I like it for a middle name far more.

I think it works as a middle! Iā€™m a sucker for one syllable middle names and I love a soft V sound so it ticks all the right boxes in that sense BUT I think itā€™s a little too cheesy for me. Then again, Iā€™m quite fussy with word names because of the strong connections to their meanings.

Like others have said above, as a first name it might be confusing if someone called their partner or a family member ā€˜loveā€™ as a term of endearment, or the fact itā€™s used often in day-to-day chitchat

I also think it makes a sweet middle name! I do know of a woman with the middle name [name_u]Love[/name_u] who changed her name when she got married and her full name then sounded like a very unfortunate sentence, but I think thatā€™s more of a funny anecdote than a reason to avoid the name.

Itā€™s very sweet but I find it hard to picture it as someoneā€™s given name.
I would feel awkward when I had call someone (like a coworker) ā€˜[name_u]Love[/name_u]ā€™ because itā€™s also used as a term of endearment.
[name_m]Vice[/name_m] versa, if it was my name, I would also feel uncomfortable if everyone (for example teachers) called me ā€˜[name_u]Love[/name_u]ā€™.
However, after a while you might get used to it.
