It also rings very feminine to me. But I wouldn’t use for a girl either.
There’s always a first time for a name, so I guess it depends how out-there you want to be. [name_m]Monty[/name_m] could be a sweet nickname.
But personally I’m not a fan at all, it brings to mind either the butterfly (and I do love the butterfly, but it feels almost as common as ‘seagull’ or something?), or a stuffy, pompous, fat old man sitting on a throne.
It wouldn’t be the first time – Monarch was on the SSA list last year!
I’m sorry, but I’m not keen on it either. All these bold “status” names (Royalty, [name_u]Majesty[/name_u], [name_u]Reign[/name_u], Sire) strike me as rather flashy and overblown, I’m afraid.

I kind of like it as it reminds me of [name_u]March[/name_u] which I can see as a boys name. But then I do agree Monarch makes me think of butterfly which feels feminine.
