We welcomed our beautiful and chunky [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Waterlily on the 15th. I particularly struggled to finalize and come to terms with this choice, she’s our last baby and it felt like her name had to be even more perfect than the others.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] has been one of my husband’s favorite names for years and it never really ‘spoke’ to me as it did to him. I had the upper hand in naming all of our kids and so I figured I owed him [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], just because he loved it more than I loved any of the names on my list. Now that baby is here and we’ve met, I have a feeling that her name couldn’t be anything other than [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].
Out of all the whimsical, compound middle names on my list Waterlily became the most meaningful after my father died at the end of last year. My dad was a big fan of [name_f]Monet[/name_f] and his home calendars, cards and a lot of his puzzles and posters were representations of [name_f]Monet[/name_f]'s art. Waterlily brought him to the forefront of my mind, especially as in the grieving process I remembered the special father-daughter trip we took when I was 23 to [name_f]France[/name_f] and we spent an entire day in [name_f]Monet[/name_f]'s gardens in Giverny, which includes the lake with the water lilies… I hope to take my kids there one day!
Now, I realize, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Waterlily is perfect and we’ve ended our era of baby naming very well!
Congratulations on your final addition. Waterlily is so striking, even more so knowing the connection it gives you with your late father. A really beautiful way to honor him.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is now 2 months old and a little firecracker, the complete opposite of sweet and quiet [name_m]Bruno[/name_m]! It’s been hectic and a ride, but our chunky girl is thriving, and I don’t think we could have given her a more perfect name.
