So pretty much everyone knows that [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] Jenner named her daughter Stormi [name_m]Webster[/name_m]. But the favorite predictions on social media were actually two butterfly related names: Monarch and [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f]. A lot of people seemed to really like [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] nn [name_f]Posie[/name_f] and I was surprised to find that I liked Monarch as well. It hit a lot of the current trends toward royal and honorific names (like it or not) and gave me brilliant images of orange and gold, like a monarch butterfly. Would I use it? No, but I liked it for the Kardashian Jenner clan.
So how do you feel about these names that almost were? Could you ever see them being used outside of the celebrity world?
I love both names! [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] would be fine for first but Monarch maybe only middle.
I really liked [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] for them, and I do think it could be used pretty easily in the normal world. I love [name_f]Posie[/name_f]/[name_f]Posey[/name_f]/[name_f]Posy[/name_f] in general anyway.
Monarch, I don’t like, but it would have been good for them, and it’s a very Kardashian/Jenner name.
I love the meanings behind the two. Monarch would actually be a very Kardiashian-style name, a la [name_u]Reign[/name_u] and [name_m]Saint[/name_m]. I think it would work for a boy in that family.
I think [name_f]Mariposa[/name_f] is fine, made more usable through nicknames [name_f]Mary[/name_f] & [name_f]Posie[/name_f]. Monarch, however, is just tacky in the same way [name_m]Saint[/name_m] is - neither you (in this case the Kardashians) nor your children are either of those things so why go there.
I thought Mariposa ‘Posie’ was lovely even though I’d probably prefer Posie on its own. I actually really like Monarch especially for one of them.
I also heard she could’ve been called Butterfly…which is almost as bad as Chicago.
I dont think Stormi is bad I just wish it was spelt Stormie. As far as the cousins go, it’s probably the best Kardashian/Jenner baby name.
