The New “Marie”?

Is [name_f]Jane[/name_f] becoming the new “[name_f]Marie[/name_f]” middle name?

If you don’t get my meaning, I mean is [name_f]Jane[/name_f] quickly becoming that new filler middle name, like [name_f]Marie[/name_f]/[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is for the twenty-somethings today.

Thoughts? If not [name_f]Jane[/name_f], what do you think is the new filler middle?

([name_m]Don[/name_m]’t take offence, and feel free to use [name_f]Jane[/name_f]/[name_f]Marie[/name_f]/[name_f]Rose[/name_f] whatever if you love it or it has special meaning)

I think [name_f]Jane[/name_f] could be. I think there’s a couple that could be–[name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f], even [name_f]Claire[/name_f], kind of. ([name_u]Lynn[/name_u], [name_f]Renee[/name_f], [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], maybe even [name_u]June[/name_u]… I think a lot of names could be considered filler these days.)

[name_f]Jane[/name_f]'s a family name for me, so I have no qualms using it as a middle, but I do see your point, and agree to an extent. I do think [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are stronger filler middles, though.

Tbh I feel like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is in the [name_f]Marie[/name_f]/[name_f]Rose[/name_f] generation and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or the new fillers

I do know a littler girl with the middle name [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and a few others with [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_u]Rae[/name_u], and [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. So maybe those are others that are becoming the filler names too!

I think [name_f]Grace[/name_f] definitely fits that criteria most. It’s soft, inoffensive, and kind of a thoughtless throwaway similar to the Lynns and [name_f]Ann/name_fs of my generation. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] has a little more substance to it, and I don’t think it’s quite as common and played out yet as [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is.

I think [name_f]Jane[/name_f]'s been a filler middle name for a while now, since before [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f] though not as popular in the last years.

Apart from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (which feels less filler as it is rather long) and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] I could see [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] becoming the new popular middle name choice though it will probably take a few more years. Another definite one would be [name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f].

I think it is getting there. Although, honestly, I know the definition of a “filler middle” but I wonder if people don’t just lump all uninteresting middle names in that category and call them filler. I wouldn’t worry about it

I feel like it’s [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] at the moment. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is outdated and I don’t know many people actually using it, but everyone is using [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

I’m 22 and it was [name_f]Marie[/name_f] or [name_f]Louise[/name_f] for my gen. Including myself!

In my area, [name_f]Jane[/name_f] seems to be in the same generation as [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Along with [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. Though I don’t see [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] declining in popularity any time soon. As for names that may be the “new [name_f]Marie[/name_f],” I would say that [name_f]May[/name_f]/[name_f]Mei[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], and [name_u]Rae[/name_u] are the new contenders.

I agree it’s been like that for a while. However, I still think it’s very elegant.

Of the baby girls I know with middle names, they are either family names or [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is still the ultimate filler. Oh, I do know one [name_u]Rae[/name_u], which also feels very filler-ish.

From my personal experience, I would say [name_f]Grace[/name_f] & [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are this generation’s filler names.

In my area, it’s more [name_f]Grace[/name_f] than [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I personally only know one [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and it’s a name that honors someone. Other popular names would be [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Marie[/name_f]/[name_f]Maria[/name_f], [name_f]Renee[/name_f], [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], and [name_f]Anne[/name_f]/[name_f]Ann[/name_f].
