The new top Italian names!

The new Italian top 30 is out! You can find it here.
The top 30 makes up for 48% of the boys’ names and 41% of the girls’.

I was pretty excited to find out the new rankings, probably more than a normal human being would consider reasonable :rolleyes:
I think it’s very interesting to note how many parents are starting to choose international names for their children: [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], [name_f]Melissa[/name_f], [name_m]Christian[/name_m], [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m].
I also have to note how the list seems to fit the Nameberry style: names which are rare in the States and are site favorites crop up on the list ([name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]!)

My personal favorites:

I’m happy to see that MOST names on the list are actually spelled the Italian way! [name_m]Even[/name_m] common English sounding names like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] are pronounced differently in [name_f]Italy[/name_f] (ah-[name_u]LEE[/name_u]-chay). Thanks for sharing!

I love [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], it’s a family name! My nephew was almost named [name_m]Giuseppe[/name_m] but his mother isn’t Italian and wasn’t real crazy about it. [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_m]Marco[/name_m], [name_m]Nicolo[/name_m], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Vittoria[/name_f], [name_f]Matilde[/name_f], and [name_m]Alessandro[/name_m] are all on my favorites lists :).

[name_f]Noemi[/name_f] is name perfection! I love Italian names!

As I’ve been learning Italian for the majority of my life, I enjoy seeing the top names being used in [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. :slight_smile: Thanks for posting. My favourites from this list are: [name_f]Giorgia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Chiara[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Francesca[/name_f], [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f], [name_f]Matilde[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Ludovica[/name_f] for the girls, and [name_m]Alessandro[/name_m], [name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m], [name_m]Matteo[/name_m], [name_m]Tommaso[/name_m], [name_m]Pietro[/name_m], [name_m]Giovanni[/name_m] and [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] for the boys.
