The No-Nickname Dilemma

The girl name [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_f]Blaire[/name_f]. I am curious how to nickname this name in a way that you could even introduce yourself as it as a fall back without getting too many raised eyebrows.

Some ideas I have and I welcome your thoughts…

[name_f]Rae[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f] (from the latter half of the name, I think this works for names like [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] too but I never see people doing it!)
[name_f]Belle[/name_f] (combining first and middle)

(I don’t feel connected to [name_f]Shell[/name_f], Chel, [name_f]Shelly[/name_f], [name_f]Raquel[/name_f] for this name…)

what about [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]?

I like [name_f]Rae[/name_f].

[name_f]Rae[/name_f] - This nickname is very straightforward and the most intuitive of your list

[name_f]Elle[/name_f] - This would be totally unexpected but I think it works and people would connect the dots

[name_f]Belle[/name_f] - It looks unrelated even though the letters are there in the full name. I’d find this one confusing.

Some suggestions:

[name_f]Rhea[/name_f] or [name_f]Raya[/name_f]
[name_f]Rella[/name_f]
[name_f]Rilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruby[/name_f] (I was thinking of the initials R.B.)

I know a [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] ‘Rae’

I think [name_f]Elle[/name_f] could work?

Some other ideas for [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] [name_f]Blair[/name_f]:

[name_m]Arbie[/name_m] / R.B
[name_f]Ree[/name_f]
Raeli / Raelie ([name_m]Ra[/name_m]chel Blaire)
[name_m]Archie[/name_m] (Rachel Blaire)
[name_f]Reba[/name_f]

I think they all work very well !! Some more ideas could be [name_f]Elly[/name_f] or [name_f]Bee[/name_f] (the B initial of Blair). Maybe even [name_f]Eri[/name_f] (from the -aire sound of Blaire)

[name_f]Rae[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] are great  :sparkles:

I LOVE the suggestion of Ruby @kachenka . How would you introduce that? You would just say RB turned into Ruby?

'Chelle

@SimiNova I like [name_f]Elle[/name_f] too and feel like it should be just as easily understood as “Rach”, which is more commonly used.

Ruby is very sweet!

I’d say Ruby was a play on the initials R.B. I think a brief explanation like that would clear up any questions.

The way I thought of it initially was shortening Rachel B to Rrrr B. But I think playing with the sound of the initials is a simpler explanation.
