The Quick Poll Thread! (Part 1)

I’ll fix it. Thank you for catching it

LOVE [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and LOVE [name_f]Reverie[/name_f]! I’m so glad to see [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] getting some love. [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] is just ok for me, but doesn’t feel like it holds it’s own with the other two. I had a [name_f]Sylvana[/name_f] in class once and that really stuck with me, and an acquaintance used [name_u]Silver[/name_u] as a mn a few years ago. I’m not sure if you’re looking for other ways to get to [name_f]Silvie[/name_f] or just want to incorporate her name some how. [name_u]Love[/name_u] that you’re honoring your sis.

To me, instinctively, it would be [name_m]Vin[/name_m]-[name_m]Chet[/name_m]-ah. Probably because of it’s similarities to [name_f]Vincenza[/name_f], which has the ch sound. I love it, personally. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandfather’s name was [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]. He went by [name_m]Vince[/name_m] (and [name_u]Vinny[/name_u] to his friends), and I’m always on the look out for names that could get to the nn [name_u]Vinnie[/name_u] for a girl ([name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Vincenza[/name_f], etc). I’ve never heard this one! [name_m]Will[/name_m] have to add it.

@name_sage [name_u]Vinnie[/name_u] is my favorite nickname for a girl so same here! Vincetta is nice. And [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] is my favorite name <3

I love [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] and [name_u]Vinnie[/name_u] on a girl too!
I first saw Vincetta as an alternative to Vincette, which I assumed was [name_u]French[/name_u] and pronounced with an S, but Vincetta probably is Italian (or maybe Spanish) so I’m guessing it is intended to have the “chet” sound.
It’s interesting to think about the history behind names and their journeys through language.

It;s usable if its acknowledged as an honor name for her. I don’t think it stands alone.

I like it but I like the nn “[name_f]Stella[/name_f]” better

I love the nickname “[name_f]Silvie[/name_f]” but [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] is just a name that I don’t like the sound of. It’s just not my style- what about [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]? or just [name_f]Silvie[/name_f]/Sylvie

It would not be an intentional honor name for her. By “stands alone” do you mean that you don’t like it as a full name? I don’t like any full names for [name_m]Leo[/name_m] so it would be a full name if I used it.

No I mean I think that most people would see it as an honor to her and you’d have to be ok with that. And I feel like correcting people that it’s not an honor to her could make her feel kind of weird about it you know? I’d have to know your relationship with her!

I was going to say, I wouldn’t be like, “No, it’s not honoring you!!” but it wouldn’t be intentional because I have another sister, and I don’t want to feel pressured into honoring her in the same way. It’s actually in honor of a book character.
