Are the endings in [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] too similar to use them as siblings?

  • Yes, too similar
  • They’re okay, but not the best match
  • No, they’re matchy but cute
  • No, but a third daughter would need the same ending (i.e. [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], [name_f]Gracie[/name_f])
  • Not at all, use them!

0 voters

I haven’t had [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] as a front runner for baby #1 because one of my husband’s favorites is [name_u]Josie[/name_u], and he thinks a potential third daughter would need to have the same ending. I see where he’s coming from, but I think it depends on the name.

Just for fun!

I chose Xylia as that appears to be the spelling you were originally attracted to? However if it was me I think I slightly prefer [name_f]Zelia[/name_f] as a spelling which I pronounce the same as Xylia

Not at all because [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]’s ending sounds like “see” and [name_u]Josie[/name_u]’s sounds like “zee” when I say them.

Any help or suggestions would be great. Please @ me in a comment below.

My brain keeps pronouncing this Xye-lee-ah in my head, like Xylophone, even though I know it’s not how you intended it.

For the pronunciation you want, I’d go with [name_f]Zelia[/name_f]. You could also go with Xelia, too, which is pretty.

I prefer the Z to the X in this case. [name_f]Zelia[/name_f] looks more effortlessly cool than Xylia.

We had [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] picked if our second was to be a girl (its a boy, can’t pick a name).
I do love [name_u]Josie[/name_u] but husbands brother is Jospeh and we’re not close.
First daughter is [name_f]Olive[/name_f]

My neighbour is called [name_m]Achilles[/name_m] (nn Achy, pronounced Ar-key) and I think he feels very inferior as his name leaves a lot to live up to which has taken him down a bit of a dark path… [name_m]Just[/name_m] though I’d mention lol.
