Lochiel is prn. lock-eel

I love [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is ok

but I dislike them for sisters because I dislike that their middle names are effectively the same name - or from the same root

I wrote a short story in middle school and the protagonistā€™s name (first and last) was [name_f]Calandra[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u] :exploding_head:

[name_u]Ryder[/name_u] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] is way too connected with [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_u]Ryder[/name_u] for me

Agreed, but I told DH Iā€™d throw it in there anyway!

Which spelling do you prefer? I tend to opt for traditional spellings, but I also kind of like how the Y is repeated in both names. Thoughts?

I prefer [name_u]Miles[/name_u] but I donā€™t mind [name_m]Myles[/name_m] at all I think it looks quite nice, and depending on the combo my preference changes. I prefer the [name_u]Miles[/name_u] spelling with [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] but I see the appeal of the double Y names with [name_m]Myles[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]

Thanks! I can see both working, but Iā€™m afraid he would be forever known as ā€œMiles with a Yā€ if we went that route. Then again, our last name has double letters, so it seems like a nice transition in my mind:

Y ā†’ Y and NN ā†’ LL

Perhaps Iā€™m wayyy overthinking thisā€¦

That makes sense! Sound-wise I donā€™t hear the similarity as much either, itā€™s more visually that it stands out. And I donā€™t think of them as older names at all, but maybe thatā€™s because Iā€™ve never met anybody with either name. Iā€™m glad you like Isaura!!
