The Quick Poll Thread! (Part 6)

Reviewing my votes for “myri” spelling & “mye-ree” assumed pronunciation, I see your dilemma
I think if Myriam is already established as the full name before introducing the nickname, mistakenly-assumed pronunciation wouldn’t be a problem. And I find nicknames tend to be spoken more than written, which would probably also help.

MYE-ree instinctively if I was reading it aloud, but if I saw something like [name_f]Myriam[/name_f] “Myri” I would assume it was MEER-EE (meer as in peer or deer).

I’ve been reading a lot of Telegraph birth announcements today, and for the most part I feel like my naming style matches quite well with a lot of them! So, I’ve kept a running list of all the names I liked hearing, and decided to sit down and make my very own list of “Telegraph Combos,” using names from that list, as well as ones I think fit the Telegraph vibe, and am now very curious to hear what the berries think of them!

the only johannah i’ve known pronounced it jo-han-uh (like jo plus hannah) but i’d instinctively go with yo-han-uh. it would probably depend on where i was / who it was though!

I’m a Hazel nicknamed Hughie (thanks, Dad!), so I don’t think it’s too much a stretch. Any which way, I love Hughie as a nickname!

I think using [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and [name_m]Archie[/name_m] together depends on where you live… I don’t think I would have noticed it if you hadn’t pointed it out.

I think using [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and [name_m]Archie[/name_m] together is fine since [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] Middleton and [name_u]Prince[/name_u] [name_m]Archie[/name_m] aren’t actually related.
