I was hearing about Halley’s comet many years before I ever saw it written, and it was always pronounced HAY-lee, so, it’s my one exception. In any other context, I would pronounce it HAL-ee
@regionlatbest Always read your username as “regional at best” and just now realising there’s no ‘a’ between the ‘r’ and ‘l’ in “regional”!
@fiddlesticks For some reason my brain ignores most of the letters in your username every time I read it so I think “that’s kid”. But, to be clear, I don’t associate that with being a child in any way. It’s confusing
@ElrynTheBookdragon I think “that’s the person who recently liked several of my posts”
I want to join in with the “who am I?” polls, but I think it’s pointless since my username is my name anyway. That being said though, I’m gonna join in anyway. So, who am I? What do you think when you see my profile?
Just realised I didn’t tick the option to show who voted, so I’m posting a new poll below since I can’t edit this one. I’ll keep this one here for anyone who wants to be anonymous
We currently have a moth infestation in our kitchen and I keep finding the larvae so yes it’s not a pleasant association. That and moth eaten clothes/carpets/toys are my main associations.
But I think it’s a cool nickname for Timothy/Timothea
I don’t know why, but while I’m not a huge fan of nn names as full first names as a rule, I like it even less when they are in the middle spot. I just think it’s really weird to give someone a nickname as a middle name.
I prefer just [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as a first name but its totally usable as a middle. I also love it as a nn for K/Catherine/ryn but I think it totally stands on its own.
